The Optometrist gave me my prescription, then passed me into the clutches of the dispensing optician who then proceeded to sell me 3 pairs of spectacles: varifocals for reading, plus a pair for watching television plus prescription sunglasses. Price in total £730.00. I am 87 years old and intended going around the corner to the local market for 1 pair of spectacles - it seems the dispensing optician had other ideas. I kept asking the price, he kept saying don't worry, you are getting maximum discount. I was late for meeting a friend as he took up so much of my time, so I foolishly gave him my card and left the shop. I felt sick as I walked out of their door, my family later advised that I cancel at least one pair as they weren't necessary. I phoned back 3 days later and it seems the 12 day delivery I was quoted had been to reduced to 2! They wouldn't allow me to cancel any of them - so I cancelled my holiday instead and told the receptionist that neither myself or my family will ever use them again.

I have used Boots for both Glasses and Contact Lenses for many years and usually their service is excellent. Today was very slow due to only one optometrist being available. I was offered a different appointment, but as I needed my next set of contact lenses couldn't take up this offer. There is a text service to remind patients of appointment dates/times, this could have been used to let me know of the delay, this would have meant less time spent off work.

I booked my appointment online as a part of ongoing free eye check but when I finished my appointment I was asked to pay for my appointment. I have to told the staff it was a free online booking then she asked me to show me the voucher but I just got a sms not an email from Boots so I told her this and she insisted to show her how I booked my appointment at the she checked and agree that it was a free eye check appointment without any apology to me which I feel is must as I was embarrassed in front of other customers around. Highly unprofessional attitude not only by staff but also by Boots booking system if it’s free then staff should know and not demand to pay. Very bad experience!!

The staff was very helpful and gave me all the support and help I needed, I was however flabbergasted at the total cost, which represents a months Pension money, I was quoted 2 pairs of glasses at specsavers for the same Price.

The optometrist was friendly and competent. However the gentleman who assisted with the glasses was unfriendly. I was made to sign a piece of paper saying that I could not change the glasses if there was a problem. Also, the receipt was not itemised so I do not know if I actually received the best grade of varifocals which I paid for! My son now needs to have his eyes tested. He definitely won't be going to Boots!

Too much emphasis on trying to sell you contact lenses which I assume is reason for question in this survey!! Staff are offering inconsistent information and more training is required. Poor communication from store - I expect to be contacted to advise test lenses have arrived! (Have also not been sent reminder about appointment) When my partner went to collect this afternoon after I had called store to confirm lenses were in (6 days after order was raised) he was given 2 packs of same lens. Now have to wait till Tuesday to get correct ones! Very disappointed in service at Boots and think I will be going back to Specsavers.
