I made an appointment for my 88 year old mother only to find later that they had no knowledge of it. They said they could make an appointment later in the day and then said they couldn't! Their system seems very unreliable. They had no record of my phone call or any appointments! Apparently they all answer the phone for each other and there is no receptionist. I spoke to the store manager who didn't seem particularly helpful. We didn't get to the appointment so some of the above ratings aren't relevant.

Great experience! The optician Jack was professional and accurate, I do not use any other optician as he is extremely thorough. I also delt with the store manager who was absolutely excellent! She took me through the range of options of specs and contacts available to me. After lots of trying g on I found a pair I was happy with and felt really happy with the service I received! Thanks so much! I will definitely be back!

It’s my 1st time with Boots Opticians, cannot fault there expertise. I found them knowledgeable and understood my needs. I collected my 1st time varifocals worth every penny. The store manager Linda was great, she made sure i was looked after with no pressure. The glasses are great and the optometrist and all the staff working here were brilliant. I’ll always come here, they know stuff!

WOW !!! Go Vision express, go Specsavers go independent go anywhere but here. A full 3 days since my visit and I'm still shocked at the verbal assault we received from one member of staff. I had previously had my eyes tested 10 days earlier and needed an upgrade on my prescription. I fully intended to purchase from the store but after looking could not see anything I liked so asked for my prescription so I could revisit the task another time. It was at this point the staff attitude changed and we were kept waiting a full 30 mins for my details. When we asked why it was taking so long as surely the details were on the system and could just be printed off we were advised the optician had to sign them off and some detail needed adding, for something that was done 10 days previously ?! Is this a new approach by Boots as never had this issue previously or my family / friends at other opticians? After a while a female staff member (store manager) approached us with what can only be described as the attitude of a surly teenager. There was no need for her to get involved as the previous staff member had been ok, even if we were kept waiting. We asked why prescriptions were not readily available to take away and was met with a condescending, overbearing, confrontational and borderline aggressive attitude. She was an embarrassment and by the look of the other staff they felt uncomfortable too .She talked over us and after thanking her (remaining civil) we just left in shock vowing never to go back. So well done that lady, I've been going to those premises for many years (as a child and since with my own children) and that lady has ruined all those years good service, custom and goodwill. Not a surprise to see negative comments on here and other review sites. ps. no issue with arranging appointment or actual test, just trying to get my prescription.

I’ve always experienced fantastic experience over the years at the Hitchin store, they all know what they’re doing! Such a busy little store highly recommended Opticians and always looked after. All the staff & the store manager are always friendly and very knowledgeable. The manager always goes out of her way to provide me with extra contact lenses for my holiday or a quick screw fix on my specs. Very efficient team.

My eye test was extrememly good and professional. The staff were helpful and went out of there way to assist me when my glasses broke. However I found the manager rude and condesending when I wanted to take time to make a decision. When I decided not to make a purchase that day her body language and tone was aggresive and I left the shop feeling humiliated. I went elsewhere and received excellent service.

Apart from the fact that I due an eye test once a year because of an eye condition, I had no notification from Boots about it. I made the appointment. The appointment was made very quickly and confirmed by text. Staff at the appointment were efficient, helpful and friendly.
