I’m happy with the service

Gordon and his staff always provide great care and service.

The optician and his assistant were knowledgeable and helpful. The eye test itself took less time than I remember due to the more technical eye testing equipment .Also a wide range of frames were in offer.

Very useful advice on eye care and glasses

The whole shop needs refitting. It's cramped and dated and just getting to the optician section is quite difficult if the shop is busy with customers (even more so if they have trollies or buggies

The two Boots Opticians in town caused confusion for me

Gordon was extremely professional. He was knowledgeable and gave me confidence in my sight test results and his recommendations. His assistant was also polite, friendly and knowledgeable and I would be happy to recommend Boots opticians, Nothallerton, to anybody.

Very thorough test with good advice

I had concerns about the blue coating on my present glasses in view of the bad publicity about it on the BBC Watchdog programme and the fact that I considered that it made car headlights show as blue at night. We had quite a long discussion on the subject and whilst there is no definite scientific evidence to support Boots' claims Gordon explained that it does have some benefits, but the the final decision was mine. Two years ago it was a definite recommendation (a bit like the banks selling PPI), but since Boots has been fined for previous claims, it is available, but not actively marketed. I feel that the pricing structure is too complicated and notices in store do not make it clear. I have quite a strong prescription for varifocals and the price (before over 60s discount) was £500 which is quite a lot higher than the headline figure for "basic" varifocals after all the various add ons.
