Had the best experience ever since wearing glasses,Hamood Afiab is without any doubt the nicest optician I have ever seen ,polite,professional and thorough,they're not all as good as this guy,hope he stays !

I usually go to an small practice but was recommended by a friend to try Boots Opticians, so i did. The Optometrist was really nice and did explain that i needed to use varifocals which i had never worn before. I then had a trainee measure all the different parts of the glasses to make sure they were correct. On collecting my glasses they seem fine, when i went to work on the Monday i could not see straight ahead it was still blurry. I called the opticians who managed to get me an appointment for the following Saturday. On arrival i had to see a different lady who looked at my glasses, she advised they had been measured incorrectly and no wonder i could not see. She advised that when your glasses are measured they should be written off by a second member of staff who is fully trained. This hadn't happened, the trainee decided not to bother getting it signed off and signed this himself. I was not impressed not only have i had to travel to them twice, i now have to wait another two weeks to get this rectified. Also i was supposed to collect my glasses on the 4th April 2020. I then found out that the branch were shut due to Covid-19. I was never called to cancel the appointment or told what will happen, as i needed my glasses. I then had to spend half of my day calling the head office to see where my glasses were. I was then informed that they were going to be posted to me this week. I was never called to cancel my app or given any details of my glasses being posted. i would not recommend Boots to my friend or family due to the experience i have had. The only positive thing i have to say is when i returned to get the glasses rectified the lady who i saw was lovely, very helpful and very apologetic.

I rang up to get a copy of my eye test - I can understand that they would not Email me it due to data protection even though they have my email address on file but they were also not able to Post a copy even though my address is also on file ...... they were able to post information (paperwork) to me last year when they did not get me to sign one of THEIR forms - strange how it is ok to post when they need to get their paperwork straight. this is helping me make a decision after 25 + years to go elsewhere

The Optometrist was excellent, but that is where it ended. My varifocals were measured up by a trainee. No problem with that, as I quite understand that people have to learn. But her work was “checked” by another person, who gave the appearance of knowing no more than the trainee. The result was that, when I collected my specs and went outside, everything was blurred. Thinking that it was a case of getting accustomed to new specs, I persevered, but took them back after two weeks. Needless to say, they could find nothing wrong and their attempt to rectify them resulted in no improvement. I have now bought new varifocals from an excellent independent optician in B St E and it is great to be able to see properly again - and they were much less expensive, for better quality specs. My impression of Boots is that, apart from the optometrist, they had no staff with any proper experience and no one who knew anything about varifocals. Stay well clear and go to an independent opticians for a professional and much less expensive service. L. Lear

I was really impressed by my recent visit to boots opticians. I made an appointment to be seen in my lunch hour. I was seen straight away. The consultant was called Payton and she was friendly. Professional. Knowledgeable. She explain everything that was going to happen and I felt at ease through the whole examination. Something I noticed she done was sterilized all of the equipment and then wiped it with a tissue so it wasn't wet (I know a very small thing) attention to the smallest detail makes you feel valued as a customer. The optometrist (Adeel) was very nice. He explained everything and took time through my appointment. I felt really valued. He also smelt nice which is always good when you're close to someone. If I had one criticism would be I wish you done more children's frames as I would love to support you and bring my little boy to the opticians with his hospital prescription. I was very impressed. Thank you very much.

Boots wrote to me twice telling me I was due an appointment. When I turned up for my eye test I was told it wasn’t due for another six months and they’d only sent the reminder letters early as they thought I’d ignore them. Coupled with that I was kept waiting for a long time. Not ideal when you are fitting an appointment around work.

Fabulous optician and so knowledgable as was able to give sound advice about a recent eye condition I had and made me feel so much better about it as have been worried

Upon collecting glasses I was handed them and can you see ok to which I replied they seem ok and that was it no adjustments to then or anything very disappointed with bury st Edmunds branch .once home I find they are uncomfortable to wear and the lenses appear to show a rainbow when I look down through them not good when driving would never use boots again

Only disappointment was the amount of time i had to wait despite booking an appointment which meant i didn't have time to look at glasses.
