Luck of communication, no information is given regarding your treatment. If asked staff have no precise answers to your questions. All they keep says is we will inform you, that could take more than few hours. A & E department is busy l understand but patients are not made comfortable while waiting. I spend 3 days in A&E sent by my GP with info. For my condition yet spend almost every hour's of 3 days on the A&E waiting area. Finally a decision was made to keep me as inpatient and a bed was offered to me . A nurse came to say you are going home and got me off the bed and sat me on the reclining chair, bearing in mind l went in A&E with back injury. I asked for a pillow to support my back, nothing was given. While l spend the night on a reclining chair, I used my backpack to support my back. Finally l felt that if l stay there any long l could potentially damage my back ever more.

Suggested improvements
The service needs to be more user friendly and improvement and communication need to be done between staff and patient . Therefore patient are not feeling helpless.

The female paramedic that handed over to a member A&E specifically stated that I told them that I rated my chest pain 3/10 when she didn't even ask me! And my pain was in fact a 6! I was highly appalled, me having a child nursing background myself. I wouldn't be surprised if other recordings were altered I don't understand why she did this. I waited almost 20hrs to see a doctor that day and wonder if I would have been seen sooner if I had correct documentation. Additionally the doctor that discharged me said that This has been my worst hospital experience.

Rude receptionist, no updates as to what checks needed to be done and when. Canula used without a real need that resulted in my bleeding after it was removed

More medical staff should be hired for better treatment of ppl

Suggested improvements
Nhs should hire more medical staff.if there are more doctors and workers nurses then the service will be good for ppl who waiting there for 8,9 hours.old women,men, little children waiting there for 8,9 hours which makes there condition more worse and critical.

I was left waiting for the nurses who were waiting for the doctors to tell them what was to be done, who were then waiting for a drug chart to confirm they can give pain killers. And left my mother in pain all night. Crying because of the pain, she is 83 and no one should have to wait for painkillers, especially in the A&E I have never seen my mother look so helpless.

All staff were polite and friendly apart from the first nurse I spoke to in the urgent care dept, who didn't really explain anything and was curt and rude in the manner that she spoke to me.

Suggested improvements
The waiting times were excessive. I arrived at around 0630hrs and left at 1720hrs, most of which was spent in the a&e reception area.

The doctors and consultants were caring. They tried their best for me to be seen quickly because I was there with a 5 month old baby. They were empathetic towards the pain I was going through

Suggested improvements
The waiting times in the A&E were very long. There were three different scans done to eliminate the problem I was having. It was not helpful as I should have had one x-ray scan from the beginning so the doctors could rule out the pain I was in. I waited for an ultrasound scan to be told that the scan didn’t show anything and then a CT scan which again didn’t show the doctors and consultant anything. Giving just the x-ray could have reduced my time spent in the A&E
