Review of Doncaster Urgent Treatment Centre

The urgent care team was great and I couldn't fault them. However, I wasn't instructed on where to go in the hospital. I went to the A&E desk to ask where to go and they said you are supposed to be here gey in the queue as there is no such thing as 111 appointments. The receptionist at A&E should have directed me in the right place. When giving information about my condition to the receptionist at A&E, she mocked me for how I spoke and made me feel stupid. Her colleague sat next to her even laughed at me. This is not the type of behaviour to expect when in an emergency environment.

Suggested improvements
Train your receptionist staff to give respect to all patients and guide them to where they need to go.

I was not seen…. It took 4 hours to be told it would be at least another 1-2…. I put 4 hour in car parking and so had to leave with a foot injury…. It would have taken 30 min just to put money in the parking not being able to walk properly…. I was not seen as a result.

Suggested improvements
If your going to charge for parking it should at least be with a mobile phone app so you can top it up in the hospital without needing to return to the car. The 2 GP’s on spent 30 min between patients what looked like just doing paperwork. This should be cut. The waiting time could have easily been reduced if this was organised better.

Because that’s what I have been to ane for before and the waiting list was just ridiculous

Suggested improvements
Speed the process up a lot faster and get more seating and more aircon and maybe a hot drinks machine because there was so many people standing and sitting on the floors in the corridors

I was booked for an appt at 11.30 at night. When I got there I was told that there was a long wait. I asked if it could be longer than an hour they said they couldn’t say. I asked could it be two hours they couldn’t say. What was the point of an appointment.?? I went home as had to be up early in the morning for work wasn’t happy with the so called “appointment system” I feel it let me down badly.

Suggested improvements
Stick as near to the appt time as possible

I am completing this in behqlf of my mother as she struggles with languge. Visiting A &E in Dri is allways traumatic and not plesent. Sadly ny mom spent all afternoon from around 13:00 pm until 19:30 not beeing seen dealt with or anything else. Lack of care and importance givwn to the patients is overwhelming. I know the hospital struggels with lack of staff I myself work in an outpatient clinic in DRI and i know how difficult it is ,but we never leave a patient unseen and treated . We put so much importance on this we care motto but sadly my mother was not cared for. Affter wating so long hungry, cold she saod i cant take it any more and left the department . And like my mother many more left there to wait for houra at end . Somthing need to be done about it . As I said before very sad experience .

Suggested improvements
Get more staff in , people that truly care about the patiences . I know is possible i do it with my patients. AND GIVE treatment and compasion to people . Patiient dont attend A & E because rhwy want to but becausw they have no other options.

I was sent here by accident and waited 2 hours (full waiting room but only one doctor present?) in poor condition only to be told I should've been told to stay in a&e as that is where the appropriate tests would take place

Suggested improvements
The waiting room was so hot (radiators were on and windows were shut?!) that my temperature went from normal to high reading. There was no regard for the patients in that waiting room and I saw some leave as it was not a healthy or safe place to be, not covid safe with the humidity

The Drs in the urgent care centre went above and beyond to assist with the care I so desperately needed to help with my breathing. Thank you

No conditions

Suggested improvements
The staff in the Urgent day centre were lovely. The telephone operator in the call centre who answered my call and made the appointment for me was awful and rude. She didn’t want to listen to me and was more interested in reading from a script of questions and getting me off the phone
