Very surprised when last attended one year ago that Christopher Chamberlain never said he was retiring shortly, Never even sent any letter about him going. When I received a reminder about my eye test being due was only then I picked up on him going by the different name on the reminder letter. Just shows customers are not valued at all today just cash cows to a business like boots. They need to remember there are plenty of opticians around to choose from.

Have been going here for about 5 years now quite satisfied. Last visit to collect new glasses realised had not been given my prescription when there previous for the eye test so asked for it. Was told as it was the managers day off could not have it as he had to sign it off and he not there. Assistant made no attempt to look in my records just in case it had been signed off but forgot to hand it to me. Or indeed even say will ask the manager Christopher for it and post it to you. Somehow was not convinced she was telling me the truth here. Husband said when we go home look at my prescription and see if has been so called signed off. Sure enough the only signature on husbands prescription is from the lady who tested his eyes. Hence when go back will complain about this. Obviously all patients are on a database here and know when your eye test is due, Up pops in the post a voucher 25% off to encourage you to return there, But my husband needed two new lenses used frame he only bought last year, two lenses £140.00 when queried told well you have got 25% to come off that, Prices are set before you attend the eye test allowing for the so called discount they are giving you if you need new lenses, Why mess about like that. When I said that is expensive for two lenses reply from assistant you do not save much using your old frame, Really do they think you are going to renew a frame after one year? some might we do not. Said to husband next time shop around with your prescription and see just how much of a bargain their 25% is worth.

They know I don’t want contact lenses and are always very professional and attentive and give good advice. I will never have laser treatment because I’ve yet to see an optician that has had his/ hers done

Appointments for 2 children aged 15 and 16. The 15 yr old's sight has worsened since last check and needed glasses for 1st time. Optometrist explained what he needed glasses for. Then handed over to sales assistant who clearly explained pricing policy of glasses and what was and wasn't included in NHS costs. Handed a copy of prescription. Allowed a long time to try on various frames, before chosing one. Easy to order and pay for glasses. They have said that they would contact me when glasses are ready. Improvement: The Optician stated that my son was long sighted and needed glasses for close work. I would have liked an explanation of the prescription. I looked this up on return home, but would have preferred to have the expert to ask questions to.

Boots Opticians is a very friendly and helpful service. Chris, the Optometrist is very helpful and friendly and explains things very clearly and listens to your comments and answers to his questions and answers any questions you may have. Highly recommend this opticians.
