Boots Opticians, High Street Hornchurch, what can I say? Since switching from VE to Boots 3 years ago, the staff and management have shown me nothing but respect and understanding. They see me as a human being, not "just another customer to be dealt with". Nothing is too much trouble for them, they treat me like I was a Prince, God knows why, I must be using the right cologne, or something. The store is always clean and tidy, the welocome is warm and genuine, and they appreciate your business. I won't mention any names (Michelle, Carole, Jackie & Anita - shhhh) but the staff made my day today, and I was only in for a routine checkup. I didn't spend a Dime! To me, that is what great customer serice is all about. Top marks, ladies.

Don’t bother going to the new branch which has replaced Starbucks in Hornchurch- staff are unhelpful, don’t take ownership of queries and tried to tell me I was contacted by their head office when clearly my phone log showed the number was the shop. They don’t work as a team - been with boots for years today was the last straw with miseries there now booked in at spec savers

The team in Hornchurch are wonderful, competant and caring. They embody the work ethic of boots. The manager is absolutely wonderful and so was the shop floor worker. The optometrist was beyond amazing. Eye test was on 21st Sept 2019. Will definitely be returning again when next due my eye test.

I had previously bought a pair of ready readers for £25 (It was an emergency I wouldn't normally pay that price) so I was quite annoyed when the screw came out two months later. After watching the women talk amongst themselves for 10mins I was finally served. Only to be told it could not be fixed and I was handed back the broken bits. I said they cost £25 Is that it? Yes she said. I took it to the Boots opticians further up the road where Linda solved the problem marvellously!

I had my eye test on Saturday, 10th March and was told that it would take 7-10 days for my glasses to arrive but anytime I was passing to just pop in if I hadn't heard anything. I popped in on the 19th and 21st March but was told both times that my glasses hadn't arrived. I popped in again on 23rd March to be told that they had been trying to get in touch with me since the 16th to tell me that my order hadn't gone through and they couldn't remember what frames I had ordered. I assumed this was because the computer had been down when I had my test. I then realised that my mobile phone had been playing up so I had not received their voicemail. Obviously, it was not their fault that my phone was playing up but why wasn't I told of the problems when I popped in on the 19th and the 23rd? I think that someone should have "thought outside the box" and when they couldn't get hold of me either drop me a line or pop a note through my door as I only live a 5-7 minute walk away. I had initially ordered two pairs of glasses but decided to only get one pair an eventually picked up my new glasses on the 31st, three weeks after my eye test. The staff are very friendly but I think that in future when someone "pops" in they shouldn't just look through the drawer to see if the glasses have arrived. They should actually look on the computer to see if there are any notes for that particular customer as, both times that I did pop in, the computers were ok. The only reason that it got sorted out on the 23rd was because there was someone there that recognised me otherwise I could still be waiting now for my glasses!

Booked appointment on line which was really easy, but the experience went down hill from there. I requested an appointment as I was getting pain in one of my eyes. The optometrist did a thorough eye examination, but didn't do the field test, which I think is important as I am at risk of glaucoma (I didn't realise the test hadn't been done at the time so didn't mention it). If I didn't answer the question as to which shape looks clearer, the optomotrist answered for me by saying 'theres no difference'. Twice I said there is a difference (it's just that the difference was minimal and I needed time to decide). I always put off going for an eye test as I really struggle with the pressure test. The optomotrist was less than sympathetic and quite impatient with me and said that is was just a puff of air and if she sent me to the hospital they would touch my eye. I am 56, I wasn't acting up, it is just a very difficult thing for me to handle. Ultimately I was advised to buy 2 different eye products for severe dry eye. The optomotrist didn't fully complete the results form and needed to be reminded by the assistant. Even then it wasn't completed fully. I contacted the shop and asked to speak to the lady for clarification of 1 - should I use the eye drops in both eyes(I was only getting pain in one but she seemed to indicate that both eyes were very dry) and was it ok to use them indefinitely or did I need to go back 2 - Should I have had the field test (which i thought was routine and I am at risk of glaucoma) 3 - when did I need to go back (another optician said it should have stated on the form) After 3 calls I did get a call back at 4.50pm one evening. I was at work and my husband called me immediately - so I called the shop back but it was constantly engaged. I did pop back into the shop but had to wait so long I just left it. So disapointed. contacted Boots online to see if they could help - 3/4 emails went back and forth - no help whatsoever - after outling the problem I was advised to check the internet for the shop telephone number! after going back to advise I was aware of how to find a phone number - that wasn't my query - someone came back to apologise and said her supervisor would contact me to discuss - guess what - nobody came back to me - but was i surprised - no

Can I get an electronic version of the receipt. This would make claiming the expense easier.

The good part was that the optician had my notes available from 2 years ago even though I attended a different office. 1/2 price offer on a second pair of glasses may be interesting.
