I have been with Boots Opticians for over 40 years. In recent years the customer care/service has become rather disappointing and I have been left feeling that I was being targeted more for sales rather than my personal needs. I was recently told I required a product, which later was confirmed not necessary, at a cost of £26.00. I found the same product in another opticians for £7.49. On two occasions I was told the contact lenses I used were being discontinued and others were offered without any choice. Recently I was told the new lenses offered were of a higher quality, which justified the price increase of £8.00 per month. However, after checking the lenses elsewhere, I was informed they were of the same quality to what I had previously been using, but simply a new supplier. Whilst closing and transferring my contact lense scheme elsewhere, the new provider required a copy of my prescription. I telephoned Boots and asked if they could send me a copy, but I was told due to Data Protection, they couldn't give it to me; but would be quite happy to forward it to my new provider if they contacted them directly! More Data Protection training required....

Having used the D&A branch, which then became a Boots Optician, on Kingland Road, for many years, I was disappointed when they closed - they provided an excellent service. I never had any cause for complaint, they were always helpful, friendly and efficient I have not been impressed with my experience of the Dolphon centre branch. I am particularly frustrated that I can no longer order my contact lenses over the phone, but have to come into the store to order them and then again to collect them. I think this is very poor customer service and extremely inconvenient for working people. I shall be investigasting where else I can get my lenses from in future

My only negative comment is that the young lady who served me when I was choosing frames for my new glasses came over as rather patronising. She frequently used the phrase 'can you do this for me' e.g when directing me to sit in a chair to have my chosen frames adjusted. She meant well but I did start to wonder who was the customer and who the assistant! It would help if somebody could ask her to omit the turn of phrase 'for me' in her directions, which would give her a more professional approach to customers. Thank you.

I believe Julia was the young lady's name. Very professional, explained all my options and was very through.

The store in Boots Dolphin Centre has been "refurbished" but it all seemed a bit chaotic and claustrophobic with desks and people everywhere having consultations.... the waiting area was very cramped - the staff were excellent though - I just didnt like the new "open" plan layout.

The online booking process is 'clunky'. I had to call to clarify what I could book and then when had a text reminder from you it said that my appointment was in Fareham when I'd booked Poole. Therefore I had to call again and it was booked for Poole so not sure what had happened there.
