It was a difficult time during Covid for my usual Eye Test as it was for everyone . My Eye Test went well though, I then we went to the next stage of choosing my glasses, this proved more difficult with wearing a mask and the glasses steaming up plus I like my wife with me to give her verdict of what suits and what does not!!! I felt a bit uncomfortable as each pair I touched had to go in a box to be cleaned in the end I picked two pairs and then went to the car park to see what my wife and granddaughter thought, as everything had taken so much longer I felt a bit rushed. The assistants were very nice and all cleaning processes were excellent. After choosing I paid a bit more than I intended and then left. I returned a week later and collected my new purchase I decided to buy a second pair for when working in my shed so I purchased a cheaper pair the same lenses as my others near sighted, on 17th March. We collected the second pair on the 29th March I had been having a problem with my right eye continuing to water due to a recent eye operation so we were disscussing that issue. I did try on the glasses but as I said my eye was watering so it was not the most successful procedure. When I returned home and my eye had settled down I tried on my new glasses to find I could not see a thing as they had the wrong lenses in they were long sighted.I phoned up Boots straight away to tell them and arrange to make a return journey my wife decided to come in with me and we eventually were seen by Holly the manager. I believe we all make mistakes from time to time so with this in mind I was calm, polite and very reasonable. Holly commented on this which we replied what is the point of being nasty! She promised to sort the problem out which was all we asked. Whilst there I asked if I could have the first pair tightened a little as these stood away from my head with the help of a deputy manager this was sorted. We then left and was told to return on April 9th to pick the second pair up! On Thursday 8th late afternoon we received a phone call from Boots to say they had not arrived in for my appointment the following day and someone would call when they did arrive, this did not happen. My wife phoned on the 13th April and guess what they were in and they had forgotten to phone. We went in to collect the glasses which were ok but very basic I was fed up with all the messing about not that I mentioned this, Holly asked if I would like to use one of my better frames from previous glasses (as I have a few) and have another pair as a goodwill gesture for all the messing about I had to put up with, this was extemley kind of her and I did appreciate this. I decided to take her up on her offer and would wait ten days plus for their return. The glasses came back and an appointment was made I had phoned earlier in the week to speak to Holly and was told she was having a day off, I said we would be in later that week to pick up my glasses. When my wife and I did arrive we were greeted by the assistants at the desk who were very nice as usual and also passed the time of day with the Optition who was lovely and had tested my eyes, we were asked to take a seat and someone would be with us, both of us expected Holly as she had been dealing with the many issues and very well may I add!! this did not happen it was a Deputy Manager (not the one we had seen in previous weeks who again was very nice ) but this person seemed to be treating us in different manner she appeared surly mardie if you like and she never struck up a conversation she certainly had No Customer Service skills to the point of rudeness we certainly had the impression that we were thought of as troublesome and needed to be got rid of as soon as possible she never asked if the glasses were comfortable or fitted correctly the only time she said anything was did we want a case (of course we did !!!) and then went to fetch a couple of cases to try. That was it!! We think that perhaps a more enthusiastic person who was actually interested in their job choice should have taken care us as we felt and when I say we that is both of us felt very uncomfortable. At the end of the day all the mistakes were made by Boots not us we were really nice about it all and could have been the reverse but chose not to be, in turn Holly dealt with the whole episode admirably and had gone that extra mile, to have it all undone by a person that had other ideas about us is beggars belief. We certainly have discussed this at length and that is why I have given a full description from start to finish of this saga, I do hope someone takes this on board as it does need to be addressed visiting your store should be a fantastic experience every time!! We will see how I feel nearer my next eye test on whether I choose your store as I certainly would not want anything to do with that member of staff again or anyone with that sort of attitude.

Really helpful staff, from start to finish, clean environment, huge choice of frames, and a choice of finishes to the lenses, from choosing and fitting to picking up the glasses was in quick time, I'd certainly go again in 2 years time for a retest .

Bought spectacles for over £400 having being convinced to buy expensive thin lenses. One lense chipped within a month. This has never happened to me in 30 years of wearing glasses. Wanted to charge me £192 to replace the lens. No concession offered. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask

Overall I felt the consultation was thorough and I was made to feel comfortable. It was explained to me that only a minor prescription could be found for me and I chose not to go with this as it would have made minimal to no difference. I did however end up with some eye drops which were not cheap at £10.99 which I did not feel I needed and have used once/twice and found no effect. I felt these were pushed on me a little firmer than I would have liked but that is my only negative.

I saw 4 people during my appointment yesterday, the First Lady at reception was delightful and saw to me promptly. After that I did digital tests on my eyes which were instructed to me clearly and concise making it an easy process. The person who tested my eyes, richard, made me comfortable and gave real sound advice on my sight and what to do moving forward and finally Mark supported me in picking out my glasses and offered sound advice on lenses etc. I didn't realise a trip to the opticians could be such a delight. I left feeling extremely postive and happy with my choice of lenses and frames as well as extreme detail on my site and vision.

The optometrist was excellent. Muhhamed was patient and concise with my 3 year old, a challenge for even an experienced optometrist . He was thorough and willing to adapt the tests to suit her age. Please pass on my positive feedback and wish him all the best in the remainder ofhis training.

What I liked about my visit is that I was not hurried either during the test or when selecting new glasses.
