Boots Opticians Chester - Foregate Street

Having never had glasses before I went to Boots thinking they would be a quality choice. How wrong that turned out to be! Convinced me I needed to take advantage of the buy two pairs get second pair half price. When the glasses arrived they offered little improvement but being new to glasses I stuck at using them in work for a week - 10 days. No improvement and headaches most days so organised another appointment. Took both pairs of glasses back, one pair totally unused as second pair proven not to be needed, had another eye test and my prescription was altered, then I was told the frames I had chosen were not ideal for me and was recommended different frames which I noticed happened to be cheaper. Handed back both pairs of glasses back as worse off using them than not and ordered only one replacement pair with the new frames/prescription as second pair proven to not be needed. When the new glasses arrived they were a slight improvement but still not right and there was no mention of the replacement frames being cheaper so I pointed this out. Very reluctantly an extremely calm yet argumentative Manager refunded the difference on ONE pair and after much disagreement relating to me needing a second pair he gave me a scruffy hand written credit note in lieu of the second pair which he said had to be used in 12 months. Never used this credit note as reluctant to go back as it was such a bad experience and left feeling conned from start to finish. In short I have ended up having paid over £300 for one pair of glasses in cheap frames that have never worked as well as my partners reading glasses that I borrow when we're out. Never again!

Staff weren't always available to answer the phone so I had to call back a few times to book my appointment.

Friendly and thorough. It was busy so I did have to wait a while for some help choosing glasses though
