Boots Opticians Abergavenny

I was initially seen in Feb 2017 by a female optometrist who recommended cataract surgery as both of my eyes were badly affected. I have no complaints about that visit. I had cataract surgery in October which left me with good vision in my right eye, but with correspondingly poor vision in my left eye. I made the required follow up appointment with Boots and was seen by another Optometrist who prescribed glasses for driving. I understood that he would make an urgent referral for the left eye to be operated on as expeditiously as possible. However, this is not the case. I have now been informed that there is no 'clinical' need for my left eye to be corrected despite the fact that I cannot see clearly in the short or middle distance with or without spectacles, and that the prescription that I have had filled for long vision for driving only works for me if I keep my head still. My peripheral vision remains distorted and I cannot properly see the dashboard controls in my car! I feel that I have been badly misled and that my expected follow-up treatment for my left eye has been compromised. Currently, because of the optometrist misleading me, I cannot get a consultant examination until June 2019. The optometrist does not seem to understand the reality of my situation. I am thoroughly dissatisfied that I have now paid for two pairs of 'temporary' spectacles, in February and in November, that are insufficient to meet my clinical needs, but more importantly, my needs simply for daily living. I cannot recommend this service.

After seeing Sian who tested my eyes I was followed up by Jeremy. He was very very helpful, and gave me all the time I needed to choose glasses and have everything explained to me. He has excellent communication skills and is very personable, warm and friendly which put me at my ease. I was also seen by a gentleman before Sian tested my eyes and he was excellent too. He told me his name and again, was very personable, thorough and had excellent communication skills. There were several other team members who interacted with me - for instance when I needed an opinion about frames and all of them were brilliant. All of the staff were friendly but also very professional and provided a very high standard of care. There was also a nice atmosphere in the opticians, relaxed but professional. I have no hesitation in recommending Boots opticians to my family and friends and look forward to going back.

Amazing service by all staff in boots Abergavenny. I've recently left Specsavers after using them for over 25years as I received such outstanding service at boots Abergavenny when I was in need of replacement contact lenses ASAP for a special night out and Specsavers couldn't help in time. I have recommended to many friends and family and will continue to.

Very good overall but when I went to collect glasses I was told the 2nd pair had to go back. They had clear lens and I ordeted sun glasses!

On time apt friendly staff not forcing u to purchase anything unnecessary

Very helpful and pleasant staff. Professional and friendly eye test etc. Given good advice in choosing new frames, assistant was very patient and gave good advice. Would suggest that assistants name was on receipt.
