The dignity and care afforded my dad in the last few days of his life was exceptional. The ladies took the time to ensure we, the family, were included, cared about/for and offered support throughout.
To enable us to have dad at home was what he wanted and, I have to admit, it was very scary for us but the help we had, the time they shared with us gave us the confidence to keep going. My dad ended his life at home, in a tranquil setting and nothing could be better than that. Thank you.
The Breathless Course proved to be very informative and we were able to draw up an exercise, Oxygen and Nebuliser programme for me which is helping maintain his my stability. The Singing section on the last day was very helpful and if future plans include both Art and Singing I would be interested in attending.
Thanks you so much for all the care.
Whoever you are speaking to at St Wifrids you are treated with respect, kindness and care. Everyone has time and consideration for you. Breathe easy course reaffirmed that what I was doing was right and the nutrition section was very useful. Protein bars are a great benefit to ones well being.
I felt anxious about attending the breath easy course and meeting others with different problems as l was very low. The course the staff and the others were so supportive as they understood, thank you for the invite.
Everyone gave above and beyond and my expectations were exceeded.
Mel Howard-Wall was so brilliant. She spoke to Mum and the family with clarity and compassion. The options were explained and Mel did everything in her power to get support in the home for Mum or a room in the hospice. She tried every avenue but there was no capacity at all.
We have an action plan now which really gives me comfort as Mums primary carer at home.
I really can't thank Mel and St Wilfrid's enough and feel Mum and the family have great support going forwards.
Mel came to visit my Mum today & was brilliant. She asked my mum & dad the right questions whilst fully explaining the eventualities of difficult subjects to enable them to voice their concerns & make informed decisions about my mums care.
It was very helpful that she was qualified to write prescriptions as if not my parents would have more admin to deal with at a very difficult time.
It was very helpful to have this home visit and to know about the different ways in which support is available and the services offered.
Learning about the Echo Hub and counselling services was of particular interest. Not wanting to over burden the medical services, knowing the right person to contact when your loved one is ill and you need advice has been a concern.
Andy is a very kind and caring man and he helped me answer a lot of questions that I had
A secure and friendly environment.
