i was sent to the wrong place from a&e. extremely long queue. only one doctor in clinic. never got seen.
In my appointment I was made to feel as though my symptoms were all in my head as soon as the doctor asked what medication I was taking and I said Sertraline. He said the pain I was experiencing was a ‘subjective’ thing and there wasn’t much he could do for me, he prescribed me Amitryptiline which has done nothing and I’m in constant intense pain still in my neck, my head, behind my ears, above my collarbone and my shoulder. I feel very let down as I was advised to go to hospital by my own doctors, the only positive experience was that I wasn’t waiting for hours however nothing has changed for me and I am still suffering with this intense pain and not getting hardly any sleep.
I had an appointment. I was in agony - the side effects from a vaccine I did not want but feel like we are just getting forced into it now for all kinds of reasons..I was perfectly healthy before it then came down with terrible side effects that left me in agony in my head. Stabbing pains so bad I thought I had a blood clot…when I came for my very late appointment of 10.30, had my mother come and look after my three children - I drove 10 miles to the hospital only to be told when I got there that I couldn’t have my appointment - that the check in was up to 5am! She said triage would ring me again if I didn’t want to wait…I had to drive home…triage did not contact me again, no one did, I was left in a state and had to find other ways of seeing a doctor
I gave my question has I have none of the above
Despite having a pre-booked appointment, I had to then wait a further 1 and a half hours in a cramped, hot waiting room.
Although the nurse I saw was superb, I needed urgent antibiotics for strep throat and sky high temperature, which I’d argued over the phone earlier in the day, but was refused treatment, hence-having to come in for an appointment. With no pharmacy for something as basic as penicillin on site, I then had to drive to Balby, seemingly the only pharmacy open in Doncaster.
All in all, a poor experience (apart from the excellent nurse). If the out of hours phone call had given me antibiotics, I’d have saved 5 hours and had early access to much needed medication.
Because I have no condition.
I he asthma
When I spoke to the out of hours doctors on the phone, he said that I need to go to A&E as I would need chest X-rays and bloods, as I was having chest pains. I never received an X-ray and my blood weren’t taken. I felt quite disappointed that I had not been thoroughly examined
The UTC saved me by enabling me to access their service when my struggling to breath had been ignored by A+E for nearly 7 hours. They assisted me swiftly, with care and expertise, listening to what I was experiencing and asking questions to best understand my circumstances. They were clearly knowledgeable about asthma and took time to observe me, treat me and advise me. I felt save and valued and respected .
