the treatment on the day was excellent. The booking procedure is however chaotic. I called several times to confirm the appointment to be told there was no appointment.
I had to call my consultants secretary to confirm the appointment and once established did not receive any information about the process prior to admission. Fortunately I have had the treatment several times so know how to be prepared in advance of arriving at the Hospital, i.e. fasting periods etc. This side of your business needs to be improved and I think it is unacceptable that I should have to call several times to confirm an appointment and not have a clear answer.
everyone i met at the clinic was excellent and understanding.
problems with BP readings
I was very happy with how operation went, attention of drs and nursing care. However I felt pushed to have a cocktail of drugs the day after my op which made me spend the whole night sick and feeling very unwell the next day. My room was never cleaned except for the emptying of bins whilst I was there. As for the food …I was delivered a sandwich which was so stale it would have bounced off the walls. Also I only had one hot meal which was ok. There wasn’t much choice for me after bowel surgery where I had to be careful of choice. My breakfast was over an hour late. For £725 per night I expected better food and service on the catering side.
There was a very long delay in my procedure being completed and when I was asked to come in. I hadn't eaten since before 10am on the morning of my procedure and went down after 20:00 I was starving.
I also didn't have anything to drink from before 14:00 either.
I understand that delays happen but I was not informed until I asked why the delay and by that time, it was too late for me to eat or drink anything.
I am sure the delay was known in advance and could have been factored in to patients (me) waiting.
Even though my actual procedure was very scary everyone at the clinic are amazing! Helpful, polite, considerate & very friendly! They helped me get through it!
The Cleveland clinic building is a beautiful building & I was lucky to see the view in the best room on the 5th floor - Buckingham palace & the food was lovely especially the Victoria sponge!
I hope to never return as the amazing surgeons have fixed me but I would highly recommend the Cleveland clinic!
All aspects of the medical side of your care giving was beyond reproach.
The portering and nursing staff and those involved in checking in were all
Absolutely lovely, kind and informative. The surgical specialists and theatre
Staff were friendly and relaxed and made the whole experience un-frightening
And reassuring.
However, your admin staff and systems ate worthy of Faulty Towers.
I was phoned at lunchtime the day before the operation to be
Informed I needed to come in by 6.30 the next morning. Luckily for me
I had chased and chased a couple of weeks earlier to get this info. System
Wide the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.
When you arrive at Portland Place there are always three or so people
Hanging about looking bored but you have to wait up to ten minutes to see
One of the two receptionists, even if you have already checked in and
Paid online. Why? Why only two receptionists? Why can't the
Greeting staff see on their ipads that you are all ready to go up?
The secretarial staff seem to be on a wholly different planet.
The day before this procedure I had decided to find a new GP
Because I was so fed up with the hopelessness of the admin but
The wonderful experience at Grosvenor Place has pursued me to
Give it one more chance.
I suspect all the effort has gone into getting a world class medical
Set up, less so the support systems.
The place and the staff all good
