I had an appointment from southampton eye hospital and I was very pleased with all the care that I had, it was very pleasant experience,made me feel at ease.

All staff were very polite and helpful, and they gave me a great service. Sian - the Optometrist was really really good at doing her job and explaining things to me. Thank you all.

Unfortunately I had a problem after I had ordered my spectacles in that at no point did I receive a phone call to tell me that they were ready for collection, I had to call in and then take time off work to collect. I was persuaded to have the office style lenses by a sales person and then I have had to get these changed to plain glass as they made me feel sick when I used them. I took these specs back and was told they will be ready within a week and two weeks later still no phone call and again had to take time off work to go in to the shop to chase them up!!! I was charged £165 for these although the frames were only £100 and so was charged extra for the office lenses which then had to be exchanged and with no refund. Not very happy with the service! although I cannot fault the optometrist and her examination.

I have always had eye tests with another smaller company and it has taken no less that45mins with thorough testing and review of eye health. I was disappointed that the testing at boots was nowhere as near as thorough as this despite recommendation from my employer. There was very little eye testing, testing was done according to my previous prescription and there was no assessment at all of my short distance vision despite being an age this is a possibility of deterioration. My eye health was barely tested. I shall be going back to an independent optician for future tests.

Would not recommend this man he needs to get a personality he never tried to put me at ease or make conversation told the ladies in the shop they said a lot of people say the same????

While I think the examination was satisfactory, the response and behaviour of the Optometrist after the consultation was NOT. This was the first time I have used Boots opticians in Romsey, having for years used Leightons in Southampton (I live in Romsey) on the recommendation of my partner. The appointment started about 10 minutes late even though it was the first one in the morning. I explained to the optometrist that the scratching on one lens was due to erosion by my eyebrows. This has been proven with previous spectacles. Only one lens is affected. He was very sceptical. After the consultation while waiting for the peripheral test the optometrist came out and gave my papers to a young assistant, saying that the lenses were scratched and in a sarcastic and disdainful "knowing" voice he would explain the "story" to her later. The young assistant was clearly embarrassed as she gave me a nervous smile/giggle and I could see she knew that he was being most unprofessional. I was also embarrassed and on leaving became very annoyed by his superior attitude and unprofessional behaviour. Had this survey not come today I would have written a letter of complaint to the manager of the Romsey (SO51) shop. I shall not have an eye test there again!

It was busy when we arrived and we waited 15mins for the previous appointment to finish. However we were given an apology and the optometrist was quick and efficient. The service my daughter received was fantastic.
