Boots Opticians Derby - Westfield Centre

I booked the appointment online with a voucher for the eye test to only be £10 without a pair of prescription glasses or free with. I was told that i would need a new pair of glasses pretty much immediately, I was pretty much aware of this anyway. But when i went to order a pair they didn't know about the voucher at all and i was basically told to pay in full amount, and if i can find the voucher to come back and get the money back (£25) on top of the glasses i paid for. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND IT ONLINE AND GET THE MONEY BACK but then i was told that the glasses would arrive in by the 11th Feb 2020, but id have to collect prior to 6pm and i couldn't do this so i arranged to collect on the 12th instead. I got there 10 mins late after coming straight from uni to collect them was there waiting 40 MINS to be told that they had been delayed and wouldn't be in until the 13th. Then on the 13th rather then wasting another 40 mins i decided to ring them, they didnt answer 4 times and when they did it was almost 5pm and then i got told they werent down on the floor may still be upstairs in the deliveries and that theyd call me back, got a call back told should be tomorrow. (14th FEB) THEY USED TO BE GREAT WHEN THEY WERENT THE ONE IN THE BIG BOOTS STORE! Whats the betting i dont get a text saying they're there like i didnt get one saying that they were delayed.

I have been a customer of Boots Opticians In the Intu Derby for over 15 years the reason being l have had excellent services even when they sold there franchise the staff were so helpful and cared about your eyesight Today l got up and my varifocals l need to wear all the time my side piece had fallen off So straight away l went to Boots opticians for help I was shocked and surprised to be met by the assistant manager who was the most unhelpful person he dismissed my enquires about repairing my glasses by saying No can’t repair them don’t have those facilities here l explained l needed my glasses and had a pair on that were about 5 years old this conversation went on but he dismissed everything l had to say So l said l will need an eye test as l will need new glasses since you say they can’t be repair he gave me one for 2 weeks time l asked him what shall l do in the meantime he said Superglue them I don’t think this person is fit to serve the public l came away completely disappointed and never wanting to go back to a place l felt completely safe with my eyes l want to know what his qualifications are as nobody that was professional would send you away from an opticians and tell you to superglue your 300 pound varifocals

The first part of the test was chaotic like musical chairs with the other patient being examined , no privacy at all . A sight test followed when i was in very close contact with the practitioner who seemed to be suffering from a cold and extremely garlicky breath , NOT an experience I shall repeat .

I would not recommend at all, it is utter chaos there, don’t know what the left or right hands are doing. I have based this on my eye test about 2 weeks ago. Informed the lad I was there for my appointment and 45 mins later I was still waiting. Approached desk and informed them and of course they apologised, the lad hadn’t done his job, again waited another 10 mins and by the end was so annoyed. Picked glasses and that was ok. Today 23rd April 2019 went to pick them up and was early, which I except, but again saw the same person just to let them know I was there, AGAIN forgotten, in the end I stood by the desk to attract the lady I knew was from D&A before taken over, she sorted me out straight away and with a smile. It was utter chaos there again, talked to another few people who had been waiting for 40/50 mins, the one I sat next to and suggested to ask, what do you think, they had forgotten her, guess who had the same guy, like a wilted lettuce leaf, out of his death. Shall be changing next year, as I have no confidence in Boots at all.

From beginning to end, my experience at Boots, Into Derby was fantastic. I went in without an appointment as I was very concerned about a prospective serious problem with my eye. All the staff were professional, polite and helpful, putting me at ease throughout. They each explained the procedure of the particular test they were doing and talked me through it. I really can't find any area which could have been improved. I cannot praise them enough, thank you!

The optician was good , however the lady who dealt with me after was quite rude and very unhelpful to the point where I just walked out I really expected better from boots. Very disappointed
