Review

Thought after seeing the bad reviews I should add mine, I've twice bought glasses at this branch and both time received great service at a reasonable cost. I have bought glasses at other companies and really not got one with them - headaches, started to feel sick and blurred vision. Im pleased to say on both occasions Ive walked out of the store with 20/20 vision, well made glasses which my eyes got used to in less than a minute. Great work and service guys even with Covid you all did a great job...thank you

Please employ more staff. I had an eye test on Friday but was unable to try on any of the locked glasses afterwards as all members of staff were busy. I was expecting to get some assistance after my appointment. Also of the glasses available a lot were missing as awaiting sanitising. I've tried to make another appointment but no one answers the phone. Why close the high street branch if your unable to provide the extra service?

I made the appointment on line. I received a text confirming the time and place. I drove into the town, waited in line . A member of your staff came out and took my details. She came back and told me that they had not received anything about my appointment. I showed her the confirmation on my phone. She asked if I had booked on line. I said I did and was surprised at her reply. They had not received any information. She sorted out another date for two weeks time. What a shambles.

There are not enough staff. There was a long queue of people waiting to be seen at the reception desk, and no member of staff came for a long time. I have just tried to get through to the Chelmsford branch by phone and no-one answered the phone although it rang for 10 minutes.

The problem with both Boots Opticians in Chelmsford is that there simply are not enough staff, When you are choosing glasses you are left to get on with it without advice and attention. When you have made the choice and are about to spend up to £500 you are kept waiting for an hour before someone is available to assist. We were advised to go for walk and come back in 15 minutes. then waited a further 45 minutes. If I had not found the glasses I wanted in that shop there was no way I would have returned there after my 'walk. Trying to get someone to answer the phone borders on impossible at times. I have just spent 20 mins trying to get through. The staff however are pleasant and helpful when you do get attention.' I will have to find another optician as this is so annoying and makes choosing glasses such a chore.

Thorough examination very impressed and very responsive optometrist. Lack of smaller adult frames and offers disappointing tho, so had to purchase frames and lenses else where . The assistant didn't seem to bothered wasn't really best impression but polite and well mannered and did answer questions when prompted.

As this was my first eye test in over ten years I was very nervous about my appointment, but found that all the members of staff who dealt with me right from me entering the building, through to the pre-test checks, to the eye test itself and finally choosing and ordering my glasses, were extremely friendly. Everyone was professional and yet made me feel at ease, and I would certainly recommend this branch to anybody else.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my opticians appointment- there was Indian music playing throughout which was disconcerting, my optician had to tear herself away from googling "gut remedies" to look at my eye. She put dye in my eye with no warning even though I had said I was there because of itchy, uncomfortable dry eyes. Helpful I think not. She didn't explain my sight tests clearly meaning I was confused about what lines to read and at the end told me my prescription is the same, however when I left my leaflet says I do need a new prescription!? I was also prescribed oily fish and blinking... really!? Going to spec savers and never coming to boots opticians again.
