In both my experiences recently Maria and Anya were excellent in their knowledge, helpfulness and people skills. They are a credit to their team. Warmth and friendliness, patience and being empathetic goes a long way. I was also acknowledged very quickly when I arrived with a warm smile and allocated a member of staff for my needs. Thank you. It showed excellent attention to the customer experience.

I'd like to say that for the third year in a row I have been really impressed by all of the optometrists, they were really conscientious and took a lot of trouble to explain things to me

Robert was fantastic who conducted my lens check. He was friendly and professional and very thorough. Olivia checked me in at the desk and was very friendly and smiley Booking the appointment online was long-winded and it didn't tell me to wear my lenses and being specs to the appointment. Luckily I already knew but not everyone would. This is no reflection on the Cambridge branch they were all brilliant.

Robert Mucklin has been my optometrist for twenty years and is always friendly, efficient and highly professional. Other staff at the Petty Cury premises. David Elsworth is similarly friendly, efficient and highly professional. I am very happy with the service that I receive.

Simran offered Very clear advice, had a professional attitude, was friendly and efficient. Dealt with me promptly as I had another appointment across town. Ben the pre-screener was also friendly and efficient.

I initially rang the other Boots Optician in Cambridge, rather late in the day. The receptionist I spoke to panicked me somewhat by the way in which she told me that my symptom (flashes) required urgent attention. She seemed shocked when I said I had been experiencing the symptom for a week or two and pretty much told me off for not reporting it straightaway, without checking how often I was experiencing the symptom or how strongly. Had she done so, she would have ascertained that it had been difficult to discern initially what was happening and I had thought I might be imagining it or could find some less worrying explanation. She told me I would have to ring the next morning to be triaged, as there was no optometrist present to give advice. This was understandable, as it was late afternoon, but I am not sure why she couldn't complete the triage form then and get someone to call me back in the morning. I commented that she had got me very worried and she didn't make any attempt to reassure me. When I did call the next morning and complete the triage process, I was advised that I should be seen either that day or the next day but that the only appointment available was at 4.30pm that day in the other (this) branch. I had to query whether this appointment was for a dilation examination, as I had had one previously (due to complaining of floaters when I had my last eye test in January, this year) so I knew that, if so, I wouldn't be allowed to drive afterwards. The receptionist was vague about this, so I had to get her to check, as I explained that I needed to make transport arrangements if I wasn't going to be able to drive myself home. Had I not already been aware of this from my previous experience, I could have found myself stranded and with my car stuck in an expensive town centre car park! She then also told me that I needed to arrive half an hour before my appointment time, for the dilation drops, which I recalled from previously. However, when I arrived, no-one said anything about the drops and, after about 15 minutes, I had to go to the desk and ask what was happening and they checked with the Optometrist and told me that she wanted to see me without the drops first. This was fine but I would like to have been informed of this without having to take the initiative to ask, after waiting a while. The two staff members who did the puffs of air and the photography were both very pleasant, affable and attentive to my comfort, although there did seem to be an issue with the camera. The Optometrist herself (I think her name was Alex) was very pleasant, professional and reassuring, examining my eyes thoroughly, listening to and taking on board everything I had to say and explaining her diagnosis to me clearly. I therefore left feeling very relieved that I did not have a detached retina and satisfied that I had done the right thing in making an urgent appointment and that I had been given an accurate diagnosis.

On time, no waiting, very friendly staff, wouldn't change a thing.

The Optometrist had looked at my eye medical history and followed up with me about it during the eye test - this was reassuring as it meant they had taken the time to look at my information before the routine check up.
