I have been using NAMS services for 18months and have always been very satisfied with the service I have received when contacting them usually by phone to order my stoma supplies. The service has been efficient and any queries dealt with quickly and efficiently. The customer service staff are always pleasant and understanding when answering or dealing with queries.

Louise is very attentive and listens carefully. I felt that I had received a very reassuring stoma review, which is important for a colostomate.

Suggested improvements
Nothing needed to improve.

Louise was very friendly and really put me at ease, in fact the whole experience was "enjoyable". She was very attentive to everything I said even when I rambled on. I hope that in a years time at my next review it is with Louise again.

Suggested improvements
I can not think of anything she could have done better.

The stoma nurse was polite, friendly, helpful and informative. He suggested a new product to try so I will give that a go, but I can't say yet whether it will help. Regarding wearing the clothes I want, that's not linked to this but clothes have always been tricky since surgery and I expect they always will be, I don't suppose there's a solution for that! The same applies for resuming "normal" activities. I would say life is just a lot less convenient with a stoma - facilities etc. The stoma nurse asked about an examination and respected my not wanting to do that, and offered for me to send photos via email, so I appreciated that.

Suggested improvements
The stoma nurse was excellent and I haven't got a prejudice against male health care professionals, but I suppose for something so personal (especially if an examination is expected) then I would personally feel more comfortable with a female. So maybe some choice there, if possible, would be beneficial. I suppose maybe it's worth bearing in mind the level of embarrassment/shame people with a stoma may experience and how difficult it is to talk about once a year with a stranger. I don't mean any criticism in that, but for me at least it is very anxiety provoking and embarrassing, although at the same time I know it needs to be done. Maybe a bit of warning would be good rather than being offered appointments unexpectedly for the same day, to avoid panic, and it might also give time to plan what to ask, or to observe skin health etc to know what to report. Although then there is more time to worry about it, so I don't know!

Review of (NAMS) Prescription Service
13th July 2021

We spoke to NAMS on the phone in the first instance as my husband has had a repair to a prolapsed stoma. He was sent out of hospital with a small amount of bags. I actually could have done with at least speaking to the stoma nurse there as I am the person who changes his stoma bag. Obviously the stoma is now quite a lot different so a new managing regime is needed. Tammy managed to fit us in very quickly to review this, provided us with a small supply of bags to try and also salts wipes as his skin is quite red around the stoma. This is the second time we have received exceptional service from the NAMS team.

Suggested improvements
Before I had to call NAMS prior to my husbands operation to repair the stoma I was not fully aware of the service provided. I think when people leave hospital or are seen by stoma nurses in the community they need to emphasise and explain what your service provides as I was not aware of the clinic. I always seem to need assistance on a Sunday when unfortunately there is none provided anywhere. Maybe an explanatory leaflet could be given out to new and existing patients.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and offer suggestions on how we can improve. We are glad Tammy was able to help you and we are sorry that you were not aware that this service was available before now. Recently, we have been working on how we can make sure everyone knows that we are here if needed.
