Treatment by Alex was very professional and caring. He is a credit to the NHS
It was not me wanting to see the doctor my grandson had swollen tonsils and temperature.
We was advised when we got there that there would be a 1-1.5 hour wait, baring in mind the appointment given for a 3 year old was already 9pm. We was fine with this as we understand the current huge demand on the service. In total it was around 2 and a half hours before we was seen, however during the wait it was like there was no rush what so ever. Doctors were coming out to call patients for their appointment, 5 minutes later the patient would come out and leave but then said doctor wouldn’t be seen again for another 30 minutes. Surely a 5 minute appointment doesn’t then take 30 minutes to write up any notes? There was a lot of children in the waiting room, so you’d have thought one of the main priorities would be to ensure they were seen and treated in a timely manor. When we finally saw the doctor we was told our daughter had an infection, and that her sample would be sent off and we would hear back from our GP by Tuesday. She advised that they may request for the antibiotics to be changed. Turns out our daughter didn’t have an infection at all, and has been given antibiotics for no reason. Whether the test the doctor did isn’t as accurate compared to when it’s sent off then who knows, but it felt like she also didn’t want to just tell us our daughter was fine despite symptoms stating otherwise after being kept waiting for 2.5 hours.
Was not seen
No condition
I ticketed those boxes as I've severe gastric erosion and suffer with depression and pritty crippling anxiety (social anxiety)
My daughter presented herself twice at Mexbrough hospital with a NEW injury. She had a deep purple bruise just above her left knee at the rear. She suffers from accute premature menorrhagia - in her case she constantly bleeds with a pause of a couple of days between bleeds. We were naturally very concerned about this bruise because it literally appeared overnight. Mexbrough staff were VERY rude and on both occasions told my daughter she could not be seen and had to go to DRI. We spoke to 111 as the waiting time at DRI was 5 hours. 111 were absolutely fantastic!
My husband took my daughter to DRI eventually and they waited around 3.5 hours. DRI staff were helpful.
My daughter then saw her GP who sent her to DRI for a blood test.
When we presented ourselves at DRI for the blood test it was 16.06 on Tuesday. We were turned away and told they could not do this as it was after 4,pm. Nobody else was there. My daughter had sat a GCSE mock and had had a 6th form interview which is why we arrived at that time. The nurse refused to listen to our appeal eventhough we were 6 minutes after 4 and nobody else was waiting. This, in my opinion, was a huge let down. No empathy, no interest in why my daughter needed a blood test, no interest in her mental health or physical health so yes, I was extremely upset. In my opinion Mexbrough hospital and DRI bloods have been a huge disappointment
