I had an urgent eye problem & couldn’t get into the optician told to ring 111 - they assessed and advised to attend a&e urgently as symptoms experienced were similar to a retinal tear/detachment- I attended a&e & sent through to minor injuries- I advised them of my symptoms & the doctor tried to do a sight test but I am short sighted- so the test wasn’t accurate- Dr spoke to the ophthalmologist on call who seemed to dismiss my symptoms due to the eye test and told to see my optician this was early Sunday morning- I had to get an emergency appointment at the optician the following day meaning I had to take an unpaid day off work!! Thankfully the optician said I didn’t have a tear but urged me to go back to a&e if the symptoms worsened- however in view of my experience of feeling let down and dismissed I’m reluctant to do this- I’m likely to go back to the optician despite being at risk

I didn't have to wait long to see the doctor and was very happy I got in to see doctor quick
On Friday 13 October I was sent to your center from an out of hours referral. Your department didn't offer the service I needed, however, the staff at the emergency care unit was greatly helpful and took me to the A&E department, spoke to the relevant staff so I could be seen in a short time. I was transferred to Sheffield the following day and now I'm with the right team, receiving the best treatment for me.
Thank you to your staff, I am know on the right path to recovery.
Thank you!
The treatment I received was Fantastic how ever I had an appointment but still waited 2and half hour
I was given an appointment because I knew I was in need of help. I attended the Gp at the hospital before my appointment time as I was hotting wrse and couldn't urinate. He said he couldn't help and said needed to be in ae because they could give me the treatment I needed. I was taken through and just left. I waited and waited. As time passed I told the nursing staff that I was unwell and getting worse. I was told to take a seat again and wait. I did over an hour later I yet again told staff I was in need of help. Yet again told to sit and wait this happed a further time. 6 hours later I was shaking and my temperature had rocketed to 39.9 I found a doctor and when he saw what was happening to me he got me on a bed and started iv treatment. From first call to 111 at am Sunday my treatment in the doctors and ae was not good. I was very poorly and on drip of fluid and antibiotics for the next 4 days and discharged on Thursday evening. Im now back home and still recovering. I feel I was failed had the doctor in 111 been more forth coming with the fact I was in need of antibiotics to ae staff. It wouldn't have got to it being so severe.
My answers above were purely related to the Doctor who I saw.
Was happy with the treatment received with was for my daughter
