Practitioner I spoke with was very dismissive of my concerns, did not do a thorough clinical exam and misdiagnosed me.
I was told that I had gastritis and to take paracetamol and keep hydrated, despite the fact that I was unable to swallow tablets without vomiting. I attempted to explain this however my concerns were dismissed without being listened to. I was also told to stop taking the antibiotics that I had been prescribed a few days previously.
After my appointment I was completely unsatisfied with what I had been told so went to urgent care at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The doctor their performed a thorough clinical exam and a urine test and diagnosed me with a kidney infection. She also advised staying hydrated and to take paracetamol, however when I informed her that I was unable to swallow tablets without vomiting she actually listened to my concerns and prescribed anti-emetics. I went to my GP for a check up 2 days after I attended the same day health center and urgent care. During this appointment the GP performed a further urine test which showed a large amount of blood in my urine, as well as a lot of sediment. She confirmed that although there was no bacterial growth in the sample I gave this was likely due to the fact that I had been taking antibiotics and that the most likely reason for my symptoms was a kidney infection. She prescribed further antibiotics and antiemetics.
Had I listened to the advice your practitioner had given me I would likely be in a worse condition, rather than starting to feel better.
I also felt that the practitioner I saw was rather patronising in the manner he spoke to me.
I felt like the nurse that saw me was rushing. She did not not take a full medical history for me. She treat me for a urine infection despite only having leukocytes and blood in my urine (no nitrates).
I felt like I had a problem with my kidneys and when I asked the nurse about this she said “if you want to go down that route it’s a&e for scans” she said this a passive aggressive way and it was as though she was threatening me with a&e.
I am a nurse myself and I then felt like that I couldn’t ask any further questions because of her attitude. I was upset with how I was spoken to.

I have MS

I have no condition
On my visit on Friday, 3 June, I was happy with the service and treatment received.
I attended due to a recurring issue.
They staff was very polite, the nurse I seen was amazing and helped me with everything I needed. Excellent care couldn’t of dine enough.
The service was timely and easy enough to access. However I feel that my own lived experience as the patient was not taken into account in the assessment of my condition and subsequent treatment.
