I had to wait over an hrs to be seen but that wasn’t the fault of the same day centre it was the call handler whom had booked me in over at Blackpool instead of Doncaster . But the gentleman on reception was very professional and said he would get me seen ASAP , which I was very grateful for.
My concerns weren’t treated as she didn’t feel she could diagnose. She prescribed me cream for itching which I didn’t mention itching. She told me to book at my GPs again. That was Saturday today is Monday and I haven’t received a call back as yet from my GP as I’m at work. I won’t be able to visit them until tomorrow as I’m working 12 hours today. I made the nurse aware of this on Saturday. If I am being honest I am not happy with the care I received. My concerns are now much worse and I have to wait for a GP call back and work all day in pain and hopefully get an appointment tomorrow. I never complain about the NHS service but I really am unhappy this time.
I’m disabled in my left arm and hand
I attended via 111 as my doctors had no appointments available 5 mins after opening. Sudden onset of acute swelling to Parotid glands, headache, fatigue, flu like symptoms, extremely swollen, painful & hot. Told wasnt sure if mumps, didn’t have the facility to take bloods, would need to see GP (was there because GP not available). Told nothing could do, to go home & rest, treat as though it was mumps and infectious to others, told to go for a Covid test.
I spent the whole day extremely unwell and scared because of the swelling to my face and neck trying all services to avoid having to attend a&e as I didn’t feel I was an emergency but that I probably would become one if left untreated. The following morning I attended a&e at 7am as an emergency as my throat was closing up. I was finally treated, diagnosed & prescribed medication to treat the condition that should have been diagnosed the previous day. I’m 43, I have a great family around me and even I felt lost and scared battling to get the correct care. If I was on my own, vulnerable or elderly? Really poor, not just from yourselves but predominantly my GP surgery. And we wonder why a&e is exhausted, I should never have ended up there.
Unable to get a GP appointment at Field Road Surgery I was advised to contact Same Day. I had received an insect bite on both legs which was infected. Same day issues a telephone consultation and the doctor without seeing a photo of the bites directed me to A & E. I informed him that I needed to see see doctor not waste the time of A & E. He said I needed to go. I went to Doncaster A& E, apologised for wasting their time with an infected insect bite and they said the doctors keep sending people to them with minor ailments and as a result the wait in A & E is 10 hours! After a very long wait I was referred to the urgent treatment centre at DRI where a further 4 hours later was prescribed antibiotics, a job my GP should have done. Absolutely disgusted.
Couldn’t get to see my doctor for my 16 year old daughter.I had rang 111 and waited for someone to contact me,no one did.rang 2 days to get a over the phone appointment with our doctor and couldn’t.rang Cavendish court got a appointment 10 minutes later.got seen quickly.lovely doctor.so grateful and was starting to get frightened no one would help me.
I am so sorry that I didn’t get the doctors name but I got an appointment to be seen within 2 hours of calling for severe lower left abdominal pain, the doctor I saw was so kind and reassuring and also very thorough. Because of my pain, he rang through to the hospital and argued my case for me to be called in for an emergency scan even when the lady on the unit at the hospital was not being very facilitating. The doctor told me that he suspected a cyst on my ovary and was very concerned for me that I would not get an emergency scan until the following day and kept checking with me, “is that okay, will you be alright?” He also gave me really good advice about what to watch out for in case of the cyst rupturing and how to respond to get the best outcome. The doctor was very considerate - he made sure to get a female member of staff as a chaperone to do a physical exam of my stomach to assess me and I literally felt so supported throughout the appointment. As it turns out, the doctor was exactly right, it was a cyst on my ovary and following the scan at the hospital the following day I have received all the right treatment and now have a referral to go back as an outpatient. I felt that the doctor I saw could not have done enough to help me and I would certainly like to thank him for listening and taking me seriously to get treated. It is the best experience I’ve had with visiting any doctor in my memory and I wish that all doctors appointments could be like that in future. Thank you so much!
The receptionist appeared completely disinterested but I am putting this down to the completely inept system she is working in.
If GP’s would come out of hiding or practices at least answer their phones people would not be forced into using emergency services.
The place was rammed with spotty, coughing children and people were not wearing masks ( patients not staff ). The doctor was calm and thorough but to get there through 111 3 times was a night mare.
It’s no wonder the staff are almost on robot mode
I felt as if the doctor who I saw didn’t want to be there and he didn’t want to help me. He made me feel like he couldn’t care less about me and that he didn’t care that I was in pain. He was kind of rude.
Overall it was a good experience
