All good
Have some hearing loss and have booked a hearing test
I have been trying to see my GP for over 12 months. Didn't happen. Fobbed me off with telephone consultations with physio. The last straw was phoning the GP around 100 times in a morning and got no where. Phoned 8-8 got an appointment for 90 mins after the call.
Was seen by an advanced nurse. She was able to see immediately that there was an issue with my knee. The nurse and the 8-8 have done more for me in that 20 min appointment than my GP has done in 13 months.
I have now got an appointment with a knee specialist all thanks to you guys.
I really do appreciate what you've done in an extremely short space of time.
The nurse that I saw was lovely, understanding and made me feel very comfortable in that I felt as though I could ask her anything and not be made to feel stupid.
It was a great experience
The Nurse Practitioner I saw was kind and considerate. Her assessment of me was thorough and efficient. I did not have to wait too long before I was seen, and the Covid-19 protocols that were in place were effective.
Calling patients to the room from the actual room door, which was a long way from the waiting area, was not good for hard of hearing patients. My doctor was very softly spoken. I could not hear her at all and, because of mask wearing, I could not use my back up of lip reading to understand her. When I had to ask her to repeat herself three times she shouted at me, but not in a nice way - I can tell the difference between shouting to be heard and snapping, impatiently because someone can't hear you. She then snapped at me when I went to put a hearing aid back in, saying to had to compare the ears, but saying it as if I wasn't intelligent. I am hard of hearing not unintelligent. The doctor softened her attitude abit towards the end of the appointment as I think she realised her attitude had not been good at all.
I was very happy with the care and treatment I was give, them nurse who saw me was lovely, and explained everything to my husband and I.
After ringing the out of hours I was asked to attend. When I attended they said they didn’t know why I’d been sent and that they couldn’t help me other than giving me drugs. The drugs didn’t nothing but knock me out for hours on end. It would have been good if they could have referred me back to my GP or a specialist. My problem wasn’t rectified and I’ve had to call my GP who will only do a phone call assessment before seeing me which is prolonging my pain.
