The speed at which l was accommodated, whilst in distress due my mother's distress. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Everything that l was told would happen, happened. Call back & eventually home visit by a GP, in the early hours if Sunday morning, by a caring/understanding GP. I truly appreciated the service l experienced, more so because l know/have an understanding of just how busy the team from call handlers to GP's are. Can't THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH. SO MUCH SO, I CALLED TO THANK THE 111 TEAM.

The operator/nurse who was the first point of call laughed at me. I was suffering from constipation post gallbladder removal surgery and she asked what I looked like while trying to push, I explained that I could see as I didn’t look but that it felt like I was turned inside out. She found it extremely funny and laughed down the phone. I felt extremely exposed and ridiculed. I said to her that I was in extreme pain and that I didn’t appreciate that she was laughing at me. She apologised. I feel she’s not the type of person to be an operator for sick vulnerable people. Communicating with her just added extra stress and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and ashamed.

Escalation was for an end of life patient and I called for emergency prescriptions for anticipatory medication of morphine. It took the service over 4hrs to return back to me leaving my patient in pain.
