York Medical Practice

This place used to be much better but the calibre of the doctors has gone down markedly over the years. I think the vast majority could now do with a course in listening skills and also become aware of the need to involve you in decision making and not be dictatorial about what is going to happen.

I have been registered with this practice since 1984. The staff, doctors, nurses and reception, are lovely and always very professional, helpful, kind and friendly. I consider myself very lucky to be registered with your practice. Outstanding surgery. Kind regards Lisbeth Bray

I have been fortunate enough not to warrant using York Medical Practice too much over my 61 years but I recently had an operation to remove a nasty abscess. The after care involved my 5cms wound being packed and dressed on a regular basis. A lovely HCA, Lisa, has been looking after me. She has been incredibly kind, gentle and caring. Lisa has had to cope with my ragged emotions, my husband with all his questions as well as dressing my wound. She has completed this with such a gentle and compassionate manner it's as if a member of your family was caring for you. We need more caring people like Lisa in the NHS. Thank you so much Lisa.

The York Medical Practice offers a very friendly professional service. This is why I have used them my entire life. All the GPs are to be highly commended.

As someone that rarely needs to visit the doctor usually I have had 3 very positive experiences with different issues over the last year - 2 with Dr Boughton and 1 with Dr Thomas. I couldn't recommend them both highly enough. I was able in all 3 cases to get appointments later the same day (although you had to be a bit persistent with calling at 8am to make this happen) My only criticism is that it seems to be very difficult to get repeat prescriptions for regular eye drops which I need. I was doing this online and the system has recently changed - I could only get details of the new process by visiting the surgery and now I find that they don't work so will need to call or visit to resolve this.

The receptionist called LISA is so nice to people. She is very professional, compassionate, helpful, engaging and informative. The best receptionist there. Excellent patient service.

Nice, light, clean and airy. Sometimes the wait is a bit long, and the magazines could do with a bit of updating (!) but on the whole, this is nice place to be. There are toys for small children, and lots of interesting literature on the walls.
