The three people I came into contact with were all very friendly, helpful, patient and efficient. No improvement necessary :-)

Review of Cardiology Consultant OPD written by a patient

Totally happy with all the care and speed of the process over the last few weeks. Can't believe anybody would have a complaint. Really don't know how it could be improved in.

Review of CHOC Day Unit written by a patient
10th January 2019

I always find that the staff are warm and human in their approach to me and with each other, so the environment is always welcoming and reassuring. I am also comforted that they always seem to know about my situation from their records and take care to check each other’s work.

Review of Eye Outpatients written by a patient
7th January 2019

For follow up eye appointments it would be good to know if pupil dilation is expected or not in the appointment letter. I do not live on a convenient bus route and to find that I could have driven my car to the hospital (no drops were to be used in the first place) is disappointing to have really inconvenienced others - particularly with unknown time for pick up. I appreciate that a standard letter covers all eventualities.

Review of Emergency Department written by a patient
4th January 2019

I was sent to Ambulatory care by my GP. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly receptionist/ nurse called Rachel. I was then seen by a frieldly nurse and had all my obs done and an ECG. I waited 5 minutes to see a doctor. Her name was Sarah, she was very friendly and personable. She ask all the relevant questions and dealt with me with great compassion and care. What a breath of fresh air she is and a credit to her profession and the QA. Due to my ongoing condition Sarah organised an MRI scan for 31/12/18, as the tumour I have in my chest can also grow in the brain. She gave me complete peace of mind as she was extremely thorough. I had my scan within several days and had the result on the same day. I went back to AC on 4/1/19 and had the scan discussed in detail, by Sarah. She is a wonderful doctor and should be recognised this. Other Doctors, Nurses and Receptionists could learn a lot of common decency and caring, from the Ambulatory Care dept. Well done and thank you all. Lynne Ball.

Review of CHOC Day Unit written by a patient
29th December 2018

My drugs need to be room temperature to be administered. I sat with the first bag inside my t shirt for 1 hour 40 minutes as they hadn't been removed from the fridge early enough. I then sat and did the same with the 2nd bag. A 3 hour appointment over ran by 2 hours

Review of Pre-op assessment Outpatient Area written by a patient
27th December 2018

The whole process from the time I arrived till I left having seen the pre-op nurse, had ECG test, blood pressure checks, blood tests and x ray's took just over the hour. This could be because it was the day after Boxing Day but anyway very impressive not having to wait around. My only disappointment was not being given my operation date only a vague indication.

Review of C7 written by a patient
25th December 2018

Excellent care from arriving to discharge. Feel the moving around from a ward to another when people are sick, is totally unnecessary. I was moved to day unit to then be moved to c6. Could of stayed on c7 until discharge. Its not great for patients.

Review of E2 written by a patient
24th December 2018

Initially the problem was waiting each day to go to theatre only to be told maybe the next day.We totally accept that there was always going to be more urgent cases but the psychological pain obviously takes it toll on patient and carer. This was offset by having a contact,Dee Wainwright, who provided continuous information on the state of play. This cannot be emphasized enough as the ward is coping with a plethora of illnesses. The care within the ward was top class. The nursing staff never showed signs of the stress of working under extreme circumstances. They are true Angels.
