Initially the problem was waiting each day to go to theatre only to be told maybe the next day.We totally accept that there was always going to be more urgent cases but the psychological pain obviously takes it toll on patient and carer. This was offset by having a contact,Dee Wainwright, who provided continuous information on the state of play. This cannot be emphasized enough as the ward is coping with a plethora of illnesses. The care within the ward was top class. The nursing staff never showed signs of the stress of working under extreme circumstances. They are true Angels.
