Very good care. My only comment is that I found the operating theatre a bit cold and could have done with bring a cardigan in with me if I had been warned. Other than that absolutely brilliant, and thank you.

I kept informing the staff that my bed was broken from when I was put in it as I was not able to adjust it so I could position myself in the bed for sleep/comfort as I'm unable to lift or turn myself without help It was Only After (2) Potters Refused to take me to X-Ray due to them not being able to bring the bed up higher so they could pull/push it without bending over due to this I wasn't able to go to have my X-Ray done at the time (about 12 noon) the Staff changed the bed after they left and said they would phone the Potters and inform them I was able to be taken to X-Ray now but it was not until early hours of the following morning (10 pass 2 ) before A (1)Potter arrived to take me for my X-Ray which I didn't feel comfortable with. I am also on water tablets and when I need the toilet I need to go urgently and as I was not allowed my Electric Wheelchair (supplied by St Marys wheelchair services) that has been built up for my specifications and needs on the ward I wet myself a number of times as even buzzing for help (pan etc) it was not possible for the staff to get to me in time and even though they where very understanding and very kind it did not help in my stress and embarrassment with me either wetting the bed or all over the floor I was given Tiny pads to use but they were of No Use I got my husband to bring my own incontinence pads (supplied for me by the clinic I'm under) but even these can only hold so much when waiting for help to get out of bed to use a commode where as if I had been able to have a Bed that worked to help lift me up and having my electric wheelchair next to my hospital bed I would have been able to go to toilet without having to wait on staff being free to lift me and put me on a commode and they would not have to be changing the bedding I had wet or wipe up the floor I had wet over and wash me down Freeing up their time for more urgent needs of others When I was taken on the ward I was asked to get my husband to bring All my medications in (as some of them the hospital did not have in stock) My husband offered to also write the times I take them (Day/Night) and was told there was no need for him to do this as they know the times but the following morning I had to phone my husband as I Know that some of the tablets I was being given where not due till the evening but I wasn't sure which ones they were as my husband sets the tablets out each day The nurse spoke to him and it was sorted out as he told which ones I needed for the morning at the same time the nurse inform my husband that one of the tablets (Doxazosin) that I need to take that morning was not in my medic bag but my husband point out that he had brought over All my medication in my medical bag so as they had gone missing he had to phone our own GP and get a urgent prescription then later on that day the pharmacist came on to the ward and spoke to me but as I didn't know for sure what tablets I took in the morning/evening and again I phoned my husband and it was while they were going through the information that she required that it was discovered that another of my tablets (Ramipril) was also not there.

Review of G5 (Private ward) written by a patient
3rd July 2019

The clinical and nursing care was of a high standard, caring and empathetic. Mr Khan's involvement was exemplary. The 'hotel' provision for a private facility could have been better. My partner waited over 2 hours for delivery of a sandwich. My vegetables I suspect were microwaved from frozen - the carrots were 'rubbery' and the broccoli watery. There appeared to be no coffee or tea 'on tap'. I ordered a Times newspaper which never arrived.

Review of Cardiology Day Unit written by a patient

Very happy with service. One small recommendation, during the angiogram procedure they placed a cold liquid on my arm (antiseptic?) - this was cold and would be nice if it was a bit warmer?

Review of G9 written by a patient
2nd July 2019

The surgeons & preoperative care was excellent. I was made fully aware of the risks involved. They were all very kind & understanding, I felt comfortable to ask them anything. Post op care was poor, my epidural came out soon after surgery! With the exception of a couple of very hard working staff on each shift the experience was dreadful. The nights are awful with no blinds at the windows, lights on full most of the time & the noise of the machines & staff with constant alarms going off was exhausting. Whilst I would have the operation again in a heart beat and have no regrets whatsoever, I would not relish the thought of being an impatient ever again.

Review of D5 written by a patient

Staff were very kind and food was ok. But I was told I was being discharged at 12.45pm on Saturday 29th June only to find out at 7.20pm that day I could not go home because no meds had been written up for me and was told I could go home the next day Sunday 30th which was just as bad as still no meds had been written up for me as I had already been discharged of the system. This was very distressing for me I eventually left the hospital that day at 2pm.

Review of G5 (Private ward) written by a patient
30th June 2019

I wasn't given much information about pain control prior to leaving the hospital i.e. nothing was discussed regarding what pain killers I should take, at what dosage and for how long. Also, while Spire provided me with a detailed manual specific when I went in for an operation with them, QAH provided more generic information about thrombosis. The detailed manual from Spire was more useful. Other than the above, I was very happy with the care provided.

Review of B7 written by a patient
29th June 2019

I chose to have an elective Caesarian following a very traumatic birth at St Richards in Chichester. The two experiences could not have been more different. From the moment we walked into the theatre for the birth ever single member of staff was kind, compassionate and totally reassuring. I was very nervous and anxious but the staff’s confidence was so settling. I would like to comment particularly on the following staff: Charlotte Phillips: the most wonderful member of staff. From my clerking appt to completing my spinal to checking on me after the birth she was spectacular. Confident, engaging and with the most beautiful manner towards both myself and my husband. Dr Lees: performed the c section. Kept us updated throughout the procedure and was so professional. Dr Ian Taylor (i think): anaesthetist. Funny and warm and took some amazing photos! Theatre staff - Mandy and Hollie. Made us laugh and looked after us so well Christine in recovery: so kind after the operation and made us all very comfortable. Once we were on the ward, Jenny took care of us. She helped me stay on top of my pain, assisted me in and out of the bed and made me feel very comfortable. She was also extremely kind to my husband, something we did not experience at St Richards. There he was made to feel like a burden and inconvenience. Jenny made him feel as he should - an equal part of the process. Jenny was also instrumental in securing a separate room for me which I was entitled to due to my mental health problems. All the rooms were taken when we got there but she kept checking for us until one became available. All other staff looked after us well throughout the night. One of the maternity assistants (I didn’t catch her name) was quite rude and abrupt however. She was relatively short, had a dark brown bob and was a larger lady. She was the only person the whole time who made us feel like we were bothering her and that she did not want to be there at all. But that was the only member of staff there was an issue with. Angelica looked after us in the run up to my discharge and was lovely. She explained how to care for my wound, the stockings, the injections, everything I needed to know. Again, she was very empathetic and friendly, making us all feel comfortable and reassured. I know half of this isn’t relevant to B7 but please forward our thanks to all the staff involved.
