I appreciated the straight talking in plain English and the feeling that one was involved in any decision.

Felt that could have been more communication between staff and patient and next of kin to another rehab unit. Physio staff were very helpful.

Suggested improvements
The physio sessions were not regularly everyday. Giving more advice regarding my illnesses. Needed general updates on progress. My wife had to ring up after two weeks of not hearing anything.

Response from Isebrook Hospital

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you felt there was not enough communication from ourselves to you, your wife and another rehab unit. We hold a progress meeting for every new patient and with patient consent we include their family or carer. At the progress meeting patient and family are encouraged to ask questions of the nursing and therapy staff who are also present. We give our contact details to family members who are welcome to call the unit for updates with the patient’s consent. We are now accommodating some visiting and encourage visitors to come and speak to us whilst they are on the ward, again with patient consent. Not all our patients receive physio every day, their needs are assessed and plan formulated, patients are given bed and chair exercises to complete to continue their rehabilitation, I am sorry that this was not explained adequately to you whilst you were on the ward and I will feed this information back to our therapy staff. I am sorry you felt you did not receive more advice regarding your illness, we work closely with many other members of the Multidisciplinary team and can refer patients who require more assistance and advice on long term conditions if we cannot answer your questions here on the ward. Our doctors complete a ward round at least once a week when every patient is seen and encouraged to ask questions. I continue to encourage patients to raise their concerns with me whilst on the ward which I can work towards resolving to their satisfaction.

Response from Isebrook Hospital

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you felt some of our staff can have a poor attitude and don’t always know your needs. I speak to our patients regularly and would encourage any to raise any concerns with me so that I can attend to specific concerns whilst you are with us, I am sorry that you did not feel able to do this.

Satisfied

Suggested improvements
Physiotherapy regularity is not sufficient, I feel I could do a lot more. More regularity would be appreciated.

Response from Isebrook Hospital

Thank you for your feedback. Our Therapy Team plan each patients contact time according to need and safe practice, they plan patient led exercises for you to complete whilst sitting in your chair or in bed as appropriate, I am sorry if this was not explained to you adequately and I will raise this with our Therapy team.
