Mr Zacharia Silk

Our daughter Betty had spinal fusion surgery in January 2026 at the Evelina under the care of Mr Silk. Her scoliosis was severe at an 80 degree curve, she was 14 years old with an onset of idiopathic scoliosis. Mr Silk was utterly brilliant. The ward staff and anaesthetist team were the same. Mr Silk achieved the straight spine that Betty had hoped for. Her pain has gone. Her shoulder blade, hips and spine are aligned and the scar is neat. Mr Silk is at the top of his game in my opinion. The NHS is lucky to have him. We highly recommend him to any family going through this journey. He has given Betty the chance of a normal life we cannot thank him enough.

Our daughter had her spinal fusion surgery with Mr Zakaria Silk in November 2025, and we could not be more grateful for the care she received. Mr Silk was exceptional throughout the whole process. He listened carefully, explained everything clearly, and reassured us at every stage. His follow-up and ongoing support have been excellent. The surgery was successful, and our daughter’s spine now looks amazing. She is currently in recovery, which is not always easy, but thanks to the continued support from Evelina, the process feels far more manageable and reassuring. She is now back at school, which is something we are incredibly thankful for. The anaesthetist was amazing, putting both our daughter and us at ease, and the nurses were excellent — kind, attentive, and highly professional. All the supporting staff were outstanding as well. The whole team truly deserves five stars. During our stay, our daughter was looked after like a princess. The dedication, compassion, and professionalism of the Evelina team are beyond words. They are truly angels. You can feel that this level of care comes from a strong, positive environment, excellent management, and real teamwork, where every member of staff knows exactly what they are doing. We are deeply grateful to Mr Silk, the anaesthetist, the nursing team, and all the staff at Evelina Children’s Hospital for their incredible care and commitment. Thank you for everything you do.

Mr Silk is warm, open, full and thorough. His information giving is excellent and we felt involved, considered and our confidence in his knowledge and ability is therefore heightened. His passion in his role and care for his patients. was obvious. I’m thrilled my son is under his care.

Hi! I’m speaking based purely on my experience of having a spinal fusion with Mr silk as my surgeon. First of all, I would like to mention how he cares for his patients, not just because it’s his job but genuinely because he’s a good person. He visited me twice a day without fail and checked up on me not just physically but mentally as well. I would also like to mention how he explained the surgery with full detail, he didn’t leave out anything important and made sure I knew what was gonna happen and how it was gonna happen. I couldn’t have honestly wished for a better doctor he was absolutely amazing! Zach has helped my quality of life so much. I’m so grateful I never felt kept in the dark or anything it was so simple and I knew that I was in safe hands. I was thirteen at the time and I’ve just had my first checkup even now I know whatever happens I will be looked after with the utmost care!

Zach is very friendly, approachable, caring and made my daughter feel immediately at ease. There is no rush and he is very thorough and explains everything clearly, at a very anxious time Zach is extremely reassuring and clearly cares a great deal for his patients and their families. At a time where as a parent you are totally vulnerable and the hardest thing to do is entrust your child at their most vulnerable to another human I cannot praise Zach and his team enough for what they have done for my daughter.
