In addition to being a highly skilled surgeon Mr Talawadekar speaks to you and listens to you like your friend. I very much get the impression he really wants my left shoulder and arm to come back to full use and be as good if not even better than my right. He is using every skill and resouce availabe to him to make that happen but has also informed me of likely outcomes and possible risks along my path to recovery. I fell over and did myself massive left shoulder and arm damage at the back end of July 2020. I had 2 operations in 2 days at Furness General Hospital, the first replaced my dislocated shoulder and the second which is a specialism of Mr Talawadekar put metal into the bone to give a stable surface for the muscles, tendons etc that work my shoulder to grow back onto so that it can work as intended. I should also thank all the nurses and staff on ward 2 at the hospital who understood the amount of pain I was in and gave me loads of tips and help on becoming a functioning one working armed person. Hygiene was excellent at all times. Now just shy of 2 months after my fall I have 2 free arms, left not quite as good as the right yet but getting closer every day. Thinking back to when I was admitted to hospital my recovery so far seems nothing short of a miracle.

Following a bad clavicle break, Dr Talawadekar was my surgeon. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. He explained the full process and always made me feel at ease and aware. The operation went brilliantly, which in turn has meant that my recovery did as well. Also aesthetically the scar is extremely neat, which was a bonus.

Mr Talawadaker fully explained the procedures he was going to use and the expected outcomes. He made me aware that I would have some discomfort from the position my arm would have to stay in , for a number of weeks, and the physiotherapy which would have to be undertaken. He thereby prepared me for a slow but steady return to good healthy. I was finally discharged several months after the operation - at this session he took me through the operation showing we a series of photos explaining what he had done. I had great faith in him from start to finish and do not hesitate to recommend him to others.

I fractured my humerus 3 weeks ago and after not being able to get a surgical appointment in my local hospital, I was sent to Furness General (90 minutes away). I was very nervous and experiencing incredible pain and discomfort. After speaking with the anaesthetist, Mr. G Talawadekar came over to introduce himself and explain what was going to happen with my surgery. He really put me at ease, he explained in great detail what would happen during my surgery and the aftercare. The surgery went very well and I returned home 24 hours later. This week I returned to Furness General to have my surgical staples removed. Mr. G Talawadekar entered the room and instantly lifted my spirits, he has a lovely warm, welcoming manner and his naturally friendly demeanour both relaxes you and lifts your spirits. My surgical scar is impressively neat and really shows how excellent he is at his job. He told me that my X-ray results are exactly what he’d been hoping to see and told me I am doing well with my healing (which is very reassuring to hear). He advised me of some exercises to carry out to help my recovery process and is sending me a follow up appointment for two months time. This was the most painful and terrifying experience of my life but I’m so glad I had Mr. Talawadekar guiding me through it, he’s worth the 90 minute drive!
