Spire Fylde Coast Hospital

I recently had knee surgery under the care of Mr Helm. The care I received was excellent throughout from admission to post op. Gemma the nurse who looked after me was amazing and Sharon in catering was brilliant. I was looked after the whole day by kind caring and professional people in a lovely environment.

Dear Justin I wanted to write to you and thank you and your staff at the Spire Fylde Coast Hospital Blackpool, for their outstanding care and support to me in the build up to, and both during and after my total hip replacement operation Monday 17 November 2025. Following a series of appointments from October, I had the operation under a spinal anaesthetic, conducted by the excellent Mr Shah with support from the equally high calibre consultant anaesthetist and his team. I was kindly afforded the courtesy of a private room which was very comfortable and this was especially helpful, postoperatively, when receiving visitors. All the staff involved both in the build up to the operation, and both on the day and afterwards were absolutely wonderful in their approach and went way beyond all expectations, to ensure I was relaxed and comfortable throughout the day and overnight. My wife is a retired trained Nurse with over 40 years experience and she was highly impressed with the clinical standard and professionalism and the caring attitude of everybody involved. This was a classic case of the healthcare at its optimum best. As the CEO of the Spire Fylde Coast Hospital Blackpool, you and your Board colleagues should be rightly proud of each and every one of the team that delivered this outstanding patient and family member experience. Great service from my consultant, my care was second to none! The whole experience from admission to discharge was perfect. Every member of staff I encountered was friendly, caring and helpful. Room was amazing, and food excellent

During the past few years I have visited the Spire at Fylde Coast on numerous occasions .Not only for diagnostic procedures , but treatments and eventually two total hip replacements . On every occasion I have been seen promptly by caring staff .The hospital itself is always clean and tidy with a very calm atmosphere . I would thoroughly recommend this hospital to anyone considering a treatment .

Great hospital

I would like to thank Mr T for all his help with regard to my trigger finger / tendon release. He is such a lovely man. He is accommodating, kind, considerate and listens to what you have to say. He makes you feel at ease, comfortable and relaxed and, that you can discuss anything with him. His sense of humour is personable and he certainly makes you laugh. He helped me for quite some time with my hand and in the end, suggested I have a small operation to put it right. He discussed everything with me and kept things light and simple, so I could understand. He was never put off with any questions that I asked. I would have no hesitation dealing with Mr T again and would recommend him to anyone.

Lovely, modern, uncrowded, well-equipped hospital. The medical, physio and other staff were very friendly, professional and attentive, and couldn't do enough for me. And the food was of a standard and quantity way above that of normal hospital food, with lovely menus to choose from!! In addition to all that, I had my own ensuite room which was superb. The only issue was insufficient parking, but I was told that plans are in place to remedy that.

I can't speak highly enough about Spire, all staff were really helpful, knowledgeable and could not do enough for me. The check in and out was smooth, the doctors, nurses, physios and catering staff were all polite and very professional at all times, nothing was too much trouble. The food was really good with an excellent selection. Follow up appointments went very smoothly with very short waiting times.
