Supremely pleasant, answered any questions, and talked through the results of my surgery (which had also gone really well)

I had DUPYUTRENS Contracture on both hands. Mr Talawadaker performed both procedures. From first contact by telephone after sending pictures of my left hand Mr Talawadaker was brilliant. He explained fully what the problem was and what was necessary to correct this. I was fully advised of all the risks that may be involved. Mr Talawadaker sent me notes from St Thomas;s Hospital in London giving detailed explanation of the problem I had. The fist procedure was performed in October 2021 at Westmoreland Hospital Kendal. When I returned from the surgery my finger which had been bent at 90 degrees was now straight. Within a few weeks I had fully recovered and had full use once more of the hand. The second procedure was performed in May 2022 at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital in Blackpool. Prior to the procedure Mr Talawadaker came and spoke with me and confirmed the procedure. At that time my little finger on right hand was bent over at around 160 degrees. After I returned from surgery my finger was straight. Within a few weeks I again had full use of the hand. I was fortunate in that I experienced no pain in either procedure. Mr Talawadaker's approach and patient understanding is magnificent. I highly recommend him and cannot thank him enough. Mr Talawadaker has given me my hands back and I cannot thank him enoiugh.

Following a fall and dislocating my shoulder at the start of December 2021 I didn't actually meet Mr Talawadekar until 22nd December as an inpatient. I was booked in to have a plate fitted. However, as soon as Mr T saw my shoulder out of the sling he immediately identified I had nerve damage and that the planned surgery was inappropriate He has been thorough to ensure I have had all the necessary scans and nerve conduction tests to identify what the appropriate course of action is for me. I am currently at the stage of deciding one of 2 options for surgery after having seen him today. He even showed my husband and I the scan results and talked us through the procedure as well as demonstrating in a simplified terms. Throughout the months my trust in Mr T has never wained His jovial manner and full discussions are always reassuring. I will be eager to submit a further review of this amazing gentleman post surgery.

Medics shape the course of your life, birth, delivery of children, treating illnesses and conditions along the way. Some stand out, others do not. However, Mr Gautam Talawadekar is the ultimate shining beacon and exemplar of all that is best in his profession. I thought my long career as a journalist and writer was seriously compromised when I could no longer hold a pen. Mr T fixed my right thumb and has left me forever grateful for his amazing skill, professionalism and absolutely lovely personality. THANK YOU MR T!
