Very friendly service answered all my questions with confidence
I am a Boots the Optician customer and made an appointment for my daughter who has just turned fouryears old.
I became shortsighted from a young age and was wanting to check her eye sight.
The optometrist was great, incredibly nice, attentive and professional.
I don't if my daughter was too young for an eye test, or if Boots, or this store are not prepared with the right expertise to test a young child. For example in one instance the optometrist was asking my daughter to follow a nib of a pen, and in an other she was asking if any icons on an iPad were popping out, which was really difficult for her to understand in terms of what she was being asked and what she needed to do.
I'm not criticising the optometrist at all but I just felt that an eye for a young child could be more intuitive to their capabilities, and possibly more fun. For example if you are wanting them to follow an object with their eyes maybe make it colourful and appealing to a young child. If you are wanting to test their eye sight maybe use shapes, and characters rather than letters or numbers.
But then again I don't know if the fault lies with me as maybe a four year is too young.
I'm not sure what the answer is. I did come away from the eye test reassured by the optometrist who I cannot compliment enough, I just feel that maybe the process with a child can be slightly better / different.
My appointment was an hour late. I was told this was due to emergency appointments. I'm not convinced. Noticed a few customers walking straight in. I will not be using this service again.
A very big and bustly Boots Opticians, now it's been refitted, but thankfully with the same opticians we're used to. Rose was very good with both of my boys (large and small), making them feel comfortable and ensuring that their eyesight and health was tested accurately. My eldest had a potential problem which was addresses as a matter of urgency, with a letter for our GP being produced overnight. Main area for improvement is on the phone: they find it hard to hear due to business and acoustics so a side room for phone admin might be better. The computer records need amalgamating too, eg they found it hard to find us on the system, despite having an unusual name, and when we got there there were two records for each boy!
Shop front staff at Wimbledon very professional. At times they seem under trained with regards to computer issues or accessing records.
