IN GENERAL THE CARE I RECEIVED BY THE NURSING STAFF WAS SATISFACTORY.THE NURSING STAFF ARE TRYING THEIR BEST IN DEMANDING CONDITIONS.MY DISAPPOINTMENT AND THE REASON I WILL BE PUTTING A FURTHER COMPLAINT IN WAS THE WAY I WAS TREATED BY THE DOCTOR WHO MADE A COMPLETE HASH OF TAKING STAPLES OUT FROM MY STOMACH.I WAS LEFT WITH A GAPING HOLE,AND WAS TOLD BY THE DOCTOR TISSUES CAN BE PUT IN THE HOLE.THIS IS TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY.
I was admitted to Poplar ward on the 3rd of March, and discharged on the 8th of March and generally I was very impressed by all the staff, nurses and HCAs who were involved in my care over the period. Poplar ward was so busy, there were new patients in and out pretty much every day, as well as some longer term residents. There were some amazingly compassionate and helpful nurses and HCAs I met who were passionate about the care and service they provided and didn't see it as just a job. The only thing I did notice is that there was a difference in my experience between the permanent staff and the agency provided ones who came in, I felt that the permanent staff definitely offered a higher standard of care especially overnight, but I understand that there are staffing issues in an under resourced NHS generally. Many thanks again to all the staff at Popular who did and are doing such a great job.
The night care could be improved.
