At times the other patients can cause safeguarding issues and even with 2 staff around and cameras some things are missed.

The consultant refused to listen to me and I found the staff uncompromising and unsupportive. There were some names worth mentioning that proved to be reliable and stuck to their word. Gloria, Melissa, Cindy, Dean, Lewis, Tobi, Tuesday and Ed, Viv, Ritesh and Chip. These individuals made my time much easier by being consistent and not just continuously changing their story. One member of staff will let me colour while it’s dinner, another member won’t. One nurse will give me my medication early, another won’t. They are so inconsistent that for an autistic individual they made my life hell. It was very difficult for me not to shout every single day. I found the atmosphere in the ward very restrictive and generally not great. The patients were all very unwell and grandiose and paranoid. I am autistic. I have actually had bipolar struck from my record and now it is back on. I am very unhappy about it. I have been unable to find work and have had to go on benefits. I needed help with the benefits and no one offered me any help. Luckily I managed to get the maximum amount of Universal Credit. I have an employment specialist who helped me get ESA, back paid. I am very unimpressed with the ward in general. The staff are completely inconsistent and unreliable. Asking for leave is like asking for snow in July. No one hands over the correct information, the doctor doesn’t keep his word. All of these things need to be addressed, this is meant to be a therapeutic environment. It is not, it is nothing more than a prison without bars and cells.
