Great care
This is an excellent hospital, but so unlike a traditional hospital in that it just doesn't feel like a hospital!
Staff are always friendly, caring and the facilities better than some hotels I have stayed in!
Just needs a swimming pool!
I have only the greatest of respect for the professionalism I was afforded by the staff at The Alexandra Hospital. From consultation, through treatment and aftercare, I can only express my sincere gratitude.
Whilst the surgeon who performed my procedure was excellent. He was open and approachable both in terms of initial consultation ,surgery and post operative checks.
The administration of the hospital was poor. I was asked to complete a registration form on my initial visit. On my second visit I pointed out that my personal details of next of kin were completly wrong. I was assured this would be corrected. On the day of my surgery I was handed the form in its original state with no corrections made. Had there been a need to contact my next of kin this could not have happened.
An appointment made by my surgeon was changed by the hospital admin. I agreed to this change asking that my surgeon should be informed. Again this did not happen as he rang me to ask why I had not in attendance at the hospital.
The heating in my room was broken.
I was not given any written care plan on my discharge. I had to ask about wound care etc.
I was also told by my surgeon who visited me on the day of discharge that I would be given a follow up appointment before I left. This did not happen. I was told I would be sent an appointment by post. This did not happen. After a week I rang the hospital to make a follow up appointment.
Whilst my operation has been successful I am concerned that the administration at the hospital needs attention.
The care I received was excellent. From the minute I checked in to being discharged. The hospital was under construction however the rooms remained clean. From cleansiness to the food, the experience was good.
My treatment before, during, and after was first class.
I have been a patient here on a number off occasions, and have nothing but praise for all the staff, be they nurses or auxiliaries.
I recently attended the Alexandra Hospital for meetings with one of the consultants, blood tests, CT and MRI scans, pre-op assessment and an operation involving an overnight stay. Car parking presented no problems (joy!!). The hospital exudes an atmosphere of calm professionalism, as did all the staff with whom I came into contact. The reception area is spacious, comfortable and pleasantly decorated. The reception procedures are efficient and the receptionists are friendly and welcoming. Hot drinks are readily available, free of charge.
The system worked smoothly with only a minimum of delay, and each time I attended the hospital my waiting time was thankfully very short (unlike certain NHS hospitals I could mention). Communication from the staff was good, making me feel my "custom" was valued.
The hospital building was clean and gave a good impression, inspiring confidence. My private room was comfortable with ensuite facilities and TV.
The preparation for my surgery took place efficiently.
The atmosphere was one of calm orderliness, the nursing staff having sufficient time to care for me without being rushed off their feet as they had been in the NHS hospital I had recently experienced.
The surgeon was also very caring, communicative and helpful, and my operation went smoothly.
I found the Alexandra Hospital to be highly professional, unrushed and confidence inspiring. I recommend it highly.
I have to return for further surgery and I have no doubts about receiving the best of care at this hospital.J A G.
The BMI Alexandra Cheadle was great. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness and professionalism. I would happily use the hospital again after my first experience. No complaints at all.
Very friendly and professional care throughout.
Fast appointment system and excellent treatment through all the various stages: consultation, pre-op assessment, day surgery, recovery, physiotherapy and discharge.
