I wasn't expecting to be here and sometimes it became very lonely and confusing. No grief counselling felt wrong.
Suggested improvements
Better communication between all involved. Get quicker access to GP medical records. Listen to complaints that are made, then reply.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you had difficulty accessing your GP records. NHFT is a separate service to the local GP’s, and they have their own process for requesting your health records. Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to complaints or queries raised to your GP. Should you however have any concerns relating to Sandpiper ward or the Welland centre I would be happy to discuss with you.

I don't think there was enough time given to understanding the socio-cultural background and taking this into consideration in calming my distress in the early days.
Suggested improvements
For patients of colour it is important to get staff/carer as close to their cultural background as possible to help communicate both patient and hospital needs and policies or concerns. Not all black/coloured are the same.

Thank you for your feedback. NHFT prides itself on having a diverse workforce with staff representatives from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. However, should you feel you need specific cultural support, we could try to identify someone off another ward to offer that support.

[name removed] was excellent. So was [name removed]. Most of the patients were kind people. Most of the staff were excellent to me. OT excellent.
Suggested improvements
Food could have been less heavy. Staff could of helped me more at times, except for [name removed] as well as [name removed].

[name removed] came to visit and assess our house on Friday for the adaptation and suggestions around how to better care for our son/step son.
She was really lovely, caring and thoughtful and followed up with us straight away afterward.
Suggested improvements
Sometimes the correspondence feels disjointed on updates for the parents as they tend to go to the mum in the first instance but as separated parents, it would be better to have Cc correspondence for the father too (me)
