I don't think there was enough time given to understanding the socio-cultural background and taking this into consideration in calming my distress in the early days.

Suggested improvements
For patients of colour it is important to get staff/carer as close to their cultural background as possible to help communicate both patient and hospital needs and policies or concerns. Not all black/coloured are the same.

Thank you for your review. You make a very interesting point and it is clear that you feel someone from your cultural background would have been a great help to you. Thank you for your feedback. NHFT prides itself on having a diverse workforce with staff representatives from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. However, should you feel you need specific cultural support, we could try to identify someone off another ward to offer that support.
