Review of Queen’s - Accident & Emergency

I was taken to the hospital A&E by the ambulance service due to concerns about my ECG. Given the reason for my drop off in A&E, I expected more urgency with my treatment. However, I was kept waiting to see a doctor for over 8 hours. This waiting time wasn't just the issue. It was the fact that I could not be given an indication of how long further waiting would entail. The nursing staff in the "same day care delivery" unit completely lacked empathy. I witnessed a couple of staff complaining about the waiting time, and the nursing staff were so quick to suggest that they could discharge themselves by filling out a form.

Suggested improvements
Better nursing staff empathy could have made a lot of different. Second would be giving patientsan indication of how long it will take to be seen. Thirdly is making the waiting condition of sick patients comfortable while waiting.

I went for a appointment for a op on my lip, my appointment was for 4pm did not get to see doctor till nearly a hour late, only to be told, would not be doing it , it was only a referral, and not will have to wait up to 17weeks before I get a date for it to be done, not happy,

One day the doctors said one thing the next day a different team of doctors said something entirely different.Only a couple of doctors were aware of the ongoing problems I hav continually been admitted for and some seem to think as I hadcm recovered after 24 hrs it was ok to send me home.One of the doctors suggested a dietician in that field for advice and keep an eye on things and give advice which is exactly what I want rather than my GP sorting out a dietician which happened in the past as in my opinion she wasnt a specialist in that field and I was discharged.

Communication between doctors as per my last comments.Also had the most awful bruisin re blood tests and cannula.The guys in the main phlebotomy dept are brilliant even though I hav deep thin veins but when they have a problem wd it be possible for a more experienced person/use thin needles.I still hav pain lumps & bruising after almost 2 weeks.

Great time had by all. Discharged - very happy with care and support I’ve received by consultants.

An hour wait time for appointment, NHS is unstaffed and unpaid hope this will change soon as the staff do expectional job considering the circumstances.

The midwives and DRS that helped me deliver my beautiful baby showed me so much kindness and treated me and my baby with care and the midwife that took over from the morning shift handing me over to coral ward transferred me with care and made so much effort to interact with myself and my partner I’m overwhelmed with the kindness even to the porter that had me in a bed with the baby pushing me to the next ward he was so kind and made sure we had a safe transfer and kept talking to us in queens they do have some lovely staff I was lucky to have the care I received.

I was unfortunately in hospital over the bank holiday weekend so it took all day for the doctor to see me and decided to keep me in another night.

Came to A and E. after that went to different wards. Where I was listened, treated very very well. Approximately stayed here for a week. Wanna just thank the whole staff, cleaning and feeding staff for taking care of me so so well. Thanks
