I was made to wait up to 13 hours before seeing the doctor. I was in the waiting area the entire time so I didn’t even get to rest in a bed or a ward during this time. I was severely sick so this made me feel even worse rather than better. One staff member was very abrupt and sadly gave me no update so in the end I had to discharge myself and go private to get my medication and care. Really disappointed with the ridiculous waiting time from this hospital and no updates or comfortable waiting area. Will not be going here again despite it being my local. Others also waiting over 11 hours with chest pain, elderly were in the corridors with bed sores as I heard a nurse mention that they had gained them whilst being kept waiting in the corridors!! Did not feel safe or comfortable and went home feeling I’d wasted my time, despite feeling awful with severe dehydration and a viral infection. I’m vulnerable with a pre existing health condition so should have been seen much sooner. Had to wait way longer than should ever be acceptable.

Suggested improvements
Reduce Waiting times Updates from staff members Kindness and respect from nurses Add comfortable waiting area!! Air conditioning it was very hot and stuffy making me feel sick!!

Boards constantly updated to show wait times Clear area for making enquiries, who directed you on if they could on answer. Staff has a caring nature and were gentle and supportive, particularly when dealing with patient anxiety.

Suggested improvements
Change of seating when patients are waiting. The type of seating was causing the patients condition to become worse.

After being told at 5am I was being admitted my partner went home to sleep after 24 hora with no food or sleep, I was then told at 5.45 that I was being discharged and told to leave the department. Advise on leaving was not to be alone for fear of falls, not to drive and to collect medication from a pharmacy once it had opened. I was told not to go out alone but also don’t stay home alone, so how was it safe to send me home alone? Due to being so ill on returning home my daughter rang the hospital to ask if I had discharged myself as she didn’t feel any medical professional would send me home in the state I am in, the nurse she spoke to clarified that I was discharged as medically fit to leave unsupervised, but on reviewing the notes she advised that I should be brought back in by ambulance. I have not retuned to the hospital as I feel they will just keep me on a chair for 14- 16 hours with no pain relief and no food ( I am diabetic) then discharge me home again.

Suggested improvements
Ensure either my safe return home or admit me as was originally stated. Food and regular sugar checks for known diabetics, pain relief when requested.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and dissatisfaction with the mistreatment I experienced during my visit to King George’s Hospital on May 5th, 2024. As a patient seeking medical assistance following a head injury, I expected to receive professional and compassionate care, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of this expectation. Upon arrival (13.10), I was hopeful that the hospital, as advised by NHS 111, would provide the necessary CT brain scan due to persistent headaches, nausea, and dizziness following my recent head injury. However, from the outset, my encounter with a male nurse was distressing. Not only was he dismissive and rude, but he also displayed a lack of empathy and professionalism. His demeanor and treatment made me feel marginalized and unworthy of proper medical attention. He said “ you are not getting a scan here, go to your GP” Despite this initial setback, I found solace in the caring demeanor of the medical staff in the urgent care unit, particularly the doctor who recognized the severity of my symptoms and promptly referred me to the A&E department for further evaluation. However, my encounter with the doctor at A&E was nothing short of disheartening. His refusal to acknowledge the recommendations of his colleague, coupled with his dismissive attitude towards my concerns, left me feeling helpless and invalidated. He was keep saying he THINKS i do not need CT scan and he will not do it. I was genuinely scared for my life as the doctor in urgent care said i should have come earlier with these symptoms and i need a CT scan which he put down on my referral paper. It was only after considerable emotional distress and insistence on my part that the doctor reluctantly agreed to proceed with the CT scan, which ultimately revealed crucial information about my condition. While I am grateful for the eventual diagnosis provided by another doctor, the overall treatment I received was unacceptable and deeply troubling. Furthermore, despite the successful outcome of the CT scan, I am disappointed that I did not receive digital images of the results, which I believe are essential for consultation with another doctor to make sure everything is fine. In light of these experiences, I urge you to conduct a thorough investigation into the conduct of the nurse and doctor involved in my care. Such behavior is not only unbecoming of healthcare professionals but also detrimental to the well-being and trust of patients. Additionally, I kindly request that the digital images of my CT brain scan be provided to me at the earliest convenience. I trust that you will take my concerns seriously and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Yours sincerely, Brigitta Kiraly

Excellent service except the long wait in between each session of being seen. The staff were excellent in all aspects other than the waiting.

Suggested improvements
I’m a little deaf so found it hard to hear my name called out to be seen, especially when it is called the other side of the reception desk. Is there some way of presenting the name actually in the waiting area?

Review of Outpatients Department

I visited King Georges Hospital Seizure Clinic on 25th April. I had been experiencing side affects that I believe were from the nedication I was taking. When I trued to tell the doctor I was loding my hair I was shut down completely told it could be from anything. It was a shame because if the doctor had asked questions rather than shut ne down it could of saved money and time. A few days later I found myself having to email the seizure clinic nurse specialist and inform her about my experience and the hair loss that is continuing. I even went to the trouble of taking a picture of my hair loss after shower. The nurse apologised that I was still experiencing hair loss and would speak to the doctor. A week after seeing the doctor she called me to speak to me regarding the medication, she indicated that the side affects could be from surgery. I was quick to let her know about my memory loss and throwing items away, joint pain and I think she then realised that it couldn't be surgery. She asked me what I want to do and I said change the medication to see if there is any improvement in what I'm experiencing. I think hair loss is horrible especially if you have baby fine hair and lose 40% of your hair is quite upsetting. I am pleased that the doctor today dud listen to me without shutting me down. The doctor said dhe will write to my GP and explain how the introduction of the new medication shoukd be done. It us just a shame more questions were nit asked at my appointment at tge hospital as thus could have been easily sorted rather than a phone xall, the doctors time as well as mine, having to write a letter to my GP, it's a waste of NHS time. When working with patients its so important questions are asked and patients are given an opportunity to put over what they need to rather than shut them down because maybe the clinic is running late. In the long run it saves time and more importantly NHS money. I think on tge whole doctors and nurses do a marvelous job but its important that it's consistent.

Suggested improvements
Ask more questions and importantly listen to what information the patient is giving given the opportunity.
