8th May 2024

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and dissatisfaction with the mistreatment I experienced during my visit to King George’s Hospital on May 5th, 2024. As a patient seeking medical assistance following a head injury, I expected to receive professional and compassionate care, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of this expectation. Upon arrival (13.10), I was hopeful that the hospital, as advised by NHS 111, would provide the necessary CT brain scan due to persistent headaches, nausea, and dizziness following my recent head injury. However, from the outset, my encounter with a male nurse was distressing. Not only was he dismissive and rude, but he also displayed a lack of empathy and professionalism. His demeanor and treatment made me feel marginalized and unworthy of proper medical attention. He said “ you are not getting a scan here, go to your GP” Despite this initial setback, I found solace in the caring demeanor of the medical staff in the urgent care unit, particularly the doctor who recognized the severity of my symptoms and promptly referred me to the A&E department for further evaluation. However, my encounter with the doctor at A&E was nothing short of disheartening. His refusal to acknowledge the recommendations of his colleague, coupled with his dismissive attitude towards my concerns, left me feeling helpless and invalidated. He was keep saying he THINKS i do not need CT scan and he will not do it. I was genuinely scared for my life as the doctor in urgent care said i should have come earlier with these symptoms and i need a CT scan which he put down on my referral paper. It was only after considerable emotional distress and insistence on my part that the doctor reluctantly agreed to proceed with the CT scan, which ultimately revealed crucial information about my condition. While I am grateful for the eventual diagnosis provided by another doctor, the overall treatment I received was unacceptable and deeply troubling. Furthermore, despite the successful outcome of the CT scan, I am disappointed that I did not receive digital images of the results, which I believe are essential for consultation with another doctor to make sure everything is fine. In light of these experiences, I urge you to conduct a thorough investigation into the conduct of the nurse and doctor involved in my care. Such behavior is not only unbecoming of healthcare professionals but also detrimental to the well-being and trust of patients. Additionally, I kindly request that the digital images of my CT brain scan be provided to me at the earliest convenience. I trust that you will take my concerns seriously and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Yours sincerely, Brigitta Kiraly
