A review of Harefield Hospital in particular Dr Mark Mason I cannot adequately express my gratitude to Harefield Hospital and in particular Dr Mark Mason for the heart operation and subsequent care given to my husband Mr Rodney George. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr Mason saved my husband’s life. He listened to our concerns and addressed each one without making us feel ill informed or stupid. He was so patient and kind and is an incredibly talented and skilled surgeon. In addition we cannot thank the staff on Oak ward enough for all their nursing care. They were amazing, highly skilled, patient and nothing was too much trouble. With out sincerest thanks Pam and Rodney George

Harefield is simply a superb hospital caring for coronary health issues. From the moment you are admitted you realise that you are in a very safe place immediately enabling your confidence to improve. This is a very high class specialise hospital and has to be one of the best you could ever wish for. Thanks Harefield for helping to improve my life.

Condition of wash and toilet facilities is awful. Is there no "defect book" for reporting problems? Shower heads hanging off the wall, notices saying "this shower leaks over the floor". Toilets not up to reasonable hotel standards. Oh dear. This is an area which does not contribute to patient recovery at all and is probably a health hazard. Urgent action needed.

Cedar ward: Clean, well staffed with friendly, willing and efficient nurses, beds with curtains that were closed for personal examinations and discussions, but provided little or no privacy. No washing or toilet facilities in the ward - these have to be accessed down the corridor. Toilets: not very clean, paper towel bin not emptied for 2 days (despite asking staff) and a mens' urine bottle (full or empty?) left there for over 24 hours. Showers: one with very stiff control dial, producing small water flow; the other with broken wall socket so that, unless the head was held in the hand, it sprayed water over the floor.
