Golden Jubilee National Hospital

Just returned home after receiving an inguinal hernia repair. Every single member of staff who looked after and treated me were fantastic - friendly, caring, professional and set me at ease from the moment I arrived until I was discharged. These days our national health service is facing constant criticism from politicians only interested in their next soundbite. They could not care less about the affect this must have on hard working staff and they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

I am in my 50s and was extremely nervous about my cateract surgery however, I really didn't need to be. The hospital is fantastic and the staff are amazing. I felt involved in the whole process and cared for by each and every member of the team. I'm on day 2 of my recovery and my sight is life changing. Thank you to every single member of staff in the hospital. I will be going back for my other eye in the future and certainly have no anxiety about that. Thank you so much

I was booked in for a knee replacement as you were travelling 120 miles to the hospital we decided to stay in the adjoining hotel which was very friendly and spotlessly clean. The next morning the morning of my operation I arrive there at 7 o'clock was taken at 8 o'clock deal dealt with all the details of the pre-operation by a very efficient member of staff who talked me through everything and put my mind at ease. Going straight to the operating unit I was made by a very efficient nurse again made me feel at ease five minutes later the anithatist again came and made me feel very relaxed about what was happening and then the sub Mr Paul common explained his part of the procedure. The great thing about this hospital is everybody is so friendly and helpful after the operation I was in the recovery room I think and then straight to the ward.... well nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I am now being discharged and I can only thank administrators the brilliant consultant nurses porters and anyone else I have missed for making a worrying situation , they are true professionals and they thank them so much . from George A Aitchison 1sep till4th september.

I've been waiting for a hip replacement since December 2019, and I've finally got a date set for me to go in on 1 May 2024. On the 29th of April, I received a phone call from someone asking me if I'd stopped smoking and if I'd stopped taking my vitamin pills. I told the lady that I had stopped smoking 6 weeks ago and that I was following the doctor's instructions. She then asked me if I had any cuts on my fingers, even the slightest nick, I informed the lady that I have a blister on one finger which is almost healed and a very slight cut on my little finger. She then told me that as my hands were injured she would have to inform the surgeon and it would be up to him if he was willing to operate on me. She also told me that she would call me back. She didn't call back until the next day "20 hours before my operation" and I told her that I was so worried about not having the operation that I couldn't sleep. Her attitude towards me was disgusting. I told her that if the hospital was going to stress me out like that the day before my operation, I really didn't want to have an operation in that hospital. So I told her that I did not want to have the operation. I can't walk properly now, but the way she spoke to me made me afraid of how the rest of the staff would treat me.

I had a cataract operation and, having been initially very anxious about this, I was put at ease by all the staff I came across. The procedure was completely pain free and over very quickly and since I got home I already notice an improvement in my eyesight in that eye. I am delighted. Thank you all very much.

This was just the best experience from beginning to end. Completely recommend to potential patients who may be concerned at travelling out of their area for surgery.

This summer I have had two cataract operations and I’m amazed at how well I can now see. Any reservations I had about the procedure immediately disappeared when I came for the pre operation consultation and observed the very professional, smooth organisation of the staff, who were friendly and helpful at the same time. The operation itself was over very quickly and made easier by the reassuring nurses and surgeon. I would like to thank everyone for the care and attention I received and to encourage anybody who is concerned about the procedure to trust in this very talented and capable team.

I came home on Friday after having lung surgery. The care I received from everyone was amazing and I would recommend this hospital to anyone. The food was very good and also very hot. I was in 3 West and the nursing staff were marvellous.

From assessment to operation the care given by all staff was incredible.Friendly,caring and attentive to all needs. Put at ease throughout whole procedure and sound advice too. Cannot praise highly enough all involved in my cataract operation.

I went in today for a renal us i was treated really badly by the staff, the scan literally took 90 seconds some of the gel dropped off and went on the bed i stood up to clean it and i was growled and snarled at by the lady who says " just leave it" angrily.
