Exceptional care during my stay under the care of Mr Blanco for knee surgery. From pre op to discharge I was treated with respect compassion and dignity. My 3 day stay was comfortable and I was kept updated in all of my care. Well done and thank you !

I found that before and after my operation I was very well looked after by all the staff which was all very pleasant towards me until the time I was discharged to come home :) A 5 *****

Fantastic treatment and care from the Fitzwilliam hospital this week. Procedure undertaken on time, so much so that I had to wait a good few hours until my wife could pick me up. Staff were lovely, special mention to Roxy and Rachel ( there were others aswell) who made me feel welcome with nothing too much trouble.

They took on a lot of NHS patients to protect their bottom line during covid...but then when they got their regular cash cow back, they quickly bombed out the nhs patients and offered an inferior service. Their leadership are weak and hide behind an ineffective Ombudsman that supports their views.

I was a private patient and underwent bilateral simultaneous knee replacement in January 2025 with Dr. Johnathon White at The Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough. While he agreed to perform this complex surgery, the outcome left me with a severe knock-knee deformity, which I did not have before. Dr. White admitted he misaligned the tibial component, explaining this caused the knock-knee. When standing, my knees touch, but my feet are more than 8 cm apart. One year on, my walking steadiness is significantly worse than before surgery, and I continue to experience pain and limitations in daily life. Revision surgery has been recommended, but the hospital has refused to provide this necessary follow-up care. Prospective patients should be aware of the risks, ask detailed questions about alignment and post-operative support, and understand how complications are handled. In my experience, these complications have had a lasting impact on mobility, stability, and overall quality of life.

All the staff - the consultant, nurses and the receptionist - were very professional and efficient. Everybody did all they could to put me at my ease, appreciating that I was probably anxious. One of the nurses held my hand throughout the procedure, which I found very reassuring. Thank you, everybody! I would definitely recommend the Fitzwilliam.

The Braithwaite Suite at Fitzwilliam Hospital is staffed by an outstanding team who deliver care with warmth, professionalism, and genuine compassion. From the moment you arrive, the nurses, reception staff, and clinical team create an environment that feels calm, attentive, and reassuring exactly what you hope for in a private hospital setting. Their dedication and kindness truly elevate the whole experience. That said, the waiting room within the Braithwaite Suite would benefit from refurbishment. There are visible signs of wear and tear that don’t quite match the high standard of care provided by the staff. For a private hospital, the environment should reflect the same level of excellence. Additionally, the hospital would greatly benefit from a larger car park, as parking can be challenging during busy periods.

Would I recommend the Fitzwilliam – absolutely not. The aftercare following my operation was dire. I had surgery on 3 November and despite my admission notes saying I needed TED stockings, none were provided. So, to clarify this, the nurse that walked me to theatre didn’t question why I wasn’t wearing them, nor did the nurse in theatre. Following the operation, I was taken back to my room and no comment was made about wearing stockings to prevent a DVT. I spent two nights in the hospital and at no point did a nurse mention the TED stockings. Even at the point of discharge they weren’t offered until my wife insisted they issued them. On my second night, I called the nurse and told her my catheter was blocked and I was in agony She insisted it wasn’t even though I was almost in tears. I told her to fetch another nurse who came in, took one look and fetched the doctor who unblocked it Two weeks after my operation if felt like I had gone into retention so I called the hospital and went in. I was shoved in a side room and had to wait for a nurse who didn’t carry out any Obs, just checked me with the bladder scanner, told me it looked okay and said I didn’t need any antibiotics and sent me away. 48 hours later I had a raging UTI that my GP had to sort out. I spoke to the hospital about this and said I deserved some recompense which they said they would consider. Despite writing twice more, they have completely ignored my request and now don’t even respond to emails. In summary, the Fitzwilliam is driven by profit, not patient satisfaction. I certainly would never use them again, nor would I ever recommend them

Sat. 25/10/25 I spent the day at Fitzwilliam Hospital as a day care patient for a second full Knee replacement. I was seen by medical staff including Mr. Jonathan White, who made abundantly clear the procedures for the day. Mr. White put me fully at ease as he did when having my first replacement. To me, a major benefit was the use of dissolvable stiches and glue. My first replacement has given me back my mobility (no more pain), second replacement is heading very much in the same direction (3/4 weeks after op.). Thank you seems inadequate for the vast improvement in my mobility and pain loss.
