I was kept waiting in an extremely noisy waiting area with a very inconsiderate family. The doctor that called me through treat me as though I was an inconvenience. She did not get me involved in her exams and did not talk to me about her findings at all and even asked me what I thought was wrong with me - I responded that I was not a doctor. She sent me to A&E for tests and bloods where I was assessed by the nurse at the reception and sent home without treatment despite the assessment from the doctor in the urgent treatment centre. I have been worsening at home but will not go back due to the way I was treated.
I contacted out of hours who told me I would receive a call back within 6 hours. I received no call but received a text message with a prescription which I thought was for some antibiotics I went to the chemist they told me the prescription late Saturday night which was for oramorph I was at work the Sunday so never had time to do much more about this woke up Monday morning in very bad pain in my right abdomen and down the right side of my back. Just awaiting a telephone call back from my GP.
I wear hearing aids in both ears my hearing loss is very poor
The check-in staff member was very good and listened to me. The assessment nurse was horrendous, very rude and accused me of being a drain on NHS resources! I explained my circumstances and reason for coming to A&E to use the out of hours service, her reply was that everyone is entitled to time off work and I should have done this to use a doctor! This was the second time in my life that I have gone to a NHS A&E ward, I very rarely use a doctor, and try not to use the NHS due to the reason of wasting their time!! If I did not come across this particular lady then I would say overall the service was excellent. Actually, the doctor I got to see was excellent, listened to my symptoms and concerns, diagnosed what was the problem and prescribed medication which is working and been a great help.
Took to long to be seen and only had childcare for a hour so was able to be seen. This caused me issue with my asthma.
After I was sent to a&e I was left sitting for 6 hours waiting for pain relief that never came. After waiting for another 2 hours for a blood test I left in agony receiving no treatment.
3 days later I'm still in pain and can't get an appointment with mu gp.
The NHS is crippled
Prescriptions were not signed and so far has taken over a week to sort and still nothing!
Appointment made via 111 and was kept. The doctor explained clearly & told me how to treat the injury. Prompt and professional. Would also make mention of the young paramedic outside who rushed over to help me when I fell over. Overall, the experience was very impressive. Thank you.
Over all the service provided was excellent. The service was excellent nothing could have been done to make it better.
Treated with dignity, given full information about illness.
