I struggled for weeks to book an appointment with my doctor and was advised to call 111 by the doctors receptionist. After going through a Q&A with the 111 advisor, I was told that I would need to see a doctor on the day. All fine until that point. The assessment by the same day doctor was inadequate and a total waste of time and expense to me and the NHS. She had no idea why I was there, makes me wonder why we have to go through the whole list of questions with 111. Seems I was only there to distinguish that I wasn’t having a heart attack and I was bluntly told to see my own doctor. I explained the reason why I was there was because it had been impossible to see my doctor, and the reply was “well there is nothing we can do”! Amazing. Since the appointment I have managed to see my own practise finally and I am pleased to say that I am being cared for now. I really wouldn’t be keen on using the same day service unless there is an improvement.

Screen and monitor the standard of doctors better. I am shocked to be told by a doctor that they are unable to refer to a specialist or diagnose non life threatening symptoms.

Being treated for CLL for which I have daily medication and quarterly consultant reviews.

Nothing it was nice to get through to someone (My GP just advised to ring 111 I never got past the receptionist who just made me feel I was interrupting her day, disgraceful) who cared and had my health interests at heart, thank you.

Excellent service by the on duty nurse who was very thorough with her checks and gave me useful information about physical symptoms to watch out for as well as directions for where to obtain a late night prescription.
