I struggled for weeks to book an appointment with my doctor and was advised to call 111 by the doctors receptionist. After going through a Q&A with the 111 advisor, I was told that I would need to see a doctor on the day. All fine until that point. The assessment by the same day doctor was inadequate and a total waste of time and expense to me and the NHS. She had no idea why I was there, makes me wonder why we have to go through the whole list of questions with 111. Seems I was only there to distinguish that I wasn’t having a heart attack and I was bluntly told to see my own doctor. I explained the reason why I was there was because it had been impossible to see my doctor, and the reply was “well there is nothing we can do”! Amazing. Since the appointment I have managed to see my own practise finally and I am pleased to say that I am being cared for now. I really wouldn’t be keen on using the same day service unless there is an improvement.

Suggested improvements
Screen and monitor the standard of doctors better. I am shocked to be told by a doctor that they are unable to refer to a specialist or diagnose non life threatening symptoms.
